Title: Seeking advice on download please!! Post by Zela on 22.10.02 at 12:54:21
HI everyone,
I have a small problem that i need some advice on please. Atm im playing online in Earth and Beyond and having a problem with grahics turning hollow from time to time and making the game hard to play. My card is a voodoo5 AGP too. Spent the last few days talking to EA Techs and they told me the following results: Your Dx.File shows following errors: Display Tab 1: The file 3dfx16vs.drv is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs. You may be able to get a signed driver from the manufacturer of the hardware device. Driver Signed: No So i dont know what driver to down load atm and could do with some advice please. As ive never had to download any files before till now. If any one can help that be excellent.... |

Well, this is a very generic response from EA there :P
All this is saying, is, that the Driver you're using is not MicroSoft WHQL certified. Usually, this means about nothing... If you want to give it a shot, download one of the WHQL certified 3dfx Reference Drivers, depending what Card and OS you have. Beta Drivers and all 3rd party modified Drivers are not WHQL certified of course, so that leaves only (some) 3dfx Reference Drivers to choose from. Whether or not it is WHQL, is usually found either in the Main Download table, and definitely in the ReadMe files. |

v4\5 drivers dx8 compatible, 1.04.00 whql, 1.04.01 beta d3d same as 1.04.00 update glide and opengl, 1.05.00 bad d3d updated no fsaa updated glide\opengl, 1.05.00b\1.07.00 fix and updated d3d glide\opengl same as 1.05.00.
3rd party drivers like x3dfx use a mix of d3d drivers 3dfx16vs.drv 11\2\00 1.04.00 whql 3dfx32vs.dll 11\2\00 1.04.00 whql 3dfxvs.vxd 2\14\00 1.0500b\1.07.00 nuangels driver5 uses 3dfx16vs.drv 2\14\00 1.0500b\1.07.00 3dfx32vs.dll 2\14\00 1.0500b\1.07.00 3dfxvs.vxd 11\2\00 1.04.00 whql only 2 sets of drivers to play with for use voodoo users thats way my question about drivers, which one had the problem that caused no fsaa in d3d v1.05.00 3dfx16vs.drv 3dfx32vs.dll 3dfxvs.vxd |

from all the posts, where people were complaining about no fsaa in directx games, and x3dfx had to ask 3dfx if they could fix the fsaa and release it, 3dfx gave permission to fix only the fsaa, that is why the good and last set of d3d drivers are the 2\14\01, i still have the bad ones, i can zip the 3 files
dated 1\31\01: 3dfx16vs.drv 1\31\01 3dfx32vs.dll 1\31\01 3dfxvs.vxd 1\31\01 and send them to you, try them. [i use win98, i just boot down into dos and swap 3dfx drivers in and out] that why my posted question about the drivers, which one controls the fsaa function, or did it involve all 3. thats why you never see any 3rd party drivers using the d3d drivers dated 1\31\01, nu's drive 5 does use the 3dfx16vs.drv 2\14\01 beta 3dfx32vs.dll 2\14\01 beta 3dfxvs.vxd 11\2\00 whql where as x3dfx 1.08.04 uses 3dfx16vs.drv 11\2\00 whql 3dfx32vs.dll 11\2\00 whql 3dfxvs.vxd 2\14\01 beta go check them out http://digilander.libero.it/F1Land/3dfxarchive/ use sitemap support v4\5 drivers win 9x version 1.05.00 x3dfx Official Drivers 1.05.00 - No 3dfxTools [the 3 d3d files are dated 1\31\01] the 1.05.01\1.07.00 same driver set[all the files are dated the same and are of the same size.] or email i'll send only the 3 files tr32z@aol.com |
