Voodoo3 and Flight Sim 2004

Okay, so to make this simple..
     My Voodoo3 card supposedly doesn't support Direct9.
Are there any patches, drivers, or tools I can use to change that?   I tried imagamerlin2.9 .. and no luck.. the simulation and graphics still suck.
  I'm running Win98SE
                    Pentium III ~500mHz
                     Voodoo3  with recent 'imagamerlin2.9' driver

Maybe I need to download direct9x from Microsoft?
  Gimme some feedback!

It's a DX 6-7 part and Flight sim 2004 is a Microsoft product that is going to require the best & latest Microsoft DX support, which is going to be a bit of a problem with a 3dfx out of business for the last 5 years.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/games/learnmore/videocard101.mspx

Microsoft advises a video card no more then 2 years old, the voodoo 3 is pushing 6.

Even a 5500 has issues-

Please check the games website in the future before starting inquires, lots of answers can be find there since they do major testing before releasing a game.

FS 2004 needs at least 64MB to run prperly, so a 16MB V3 would just choke in it small 16MB memory buffer.

I'm a real FS 2004 fan I fly mostly the GAF N22-B Nomad, for mid-range routes the B737-400 and the B747-400 for long haul flights Smiley

Don't know about FS2004 but FS2002 works with my Voodoo3 2000 PCI.

Microsofts FS2004 spec says:

Microsoft® Windows® 98/Me/XP/2000
PC with 450 MHz equivalent or higher processor
128 MB of system RAM for 2000/XP, 64 MB RAM for 98/Me
1.8 GB available hard disk space
4x speed or faster CD-ROM drive
8 MB video card required
Sound card, speakers or headphones required for audio
Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
56.6 Kbps or better modem for online play

8 MB video card required. Thats what is says for Train Simulator but it keeps crashing on mine. Not the train.  Grin

FS 2002 should be able to run on a Voodoo4 4500 AGP at the least, at 800 x 600 x16 for the Voodoo4 and 1024 x 768 x 32 for a Voodoo5 5500 AGP all detail set to normal and medium specs, and ofcourse it does depend on what your sys specs are Smiley

FS 2004 runs best on SMP systems, it has Dual CPU support, I run it on my Dual OpteronDP 244 with ASUS ATi Radeon X800XT Platinum Edition at 1600 x 1200 x 32 at max detail and max densities with FSAA x6 and AF x16 at an avr 70 frames per sec and with one CPU I get about 47 frames per sec.
