at first I thought it was a Voodoo Rush like board beacuse of the NEC chip and the SDRam above it, but then you mentioned Voodoo Graphics then I got confused, could it be a combination of a Voodoo Rush idea with a Voodoo Graphics part on it instead of a Voodoo Rush part?

4 V3 chips. Memory is on the back, cooling (heatsink) is also on the back.

Chosen_One, Apparently there's someone with the green AALchemy 4116. If I'm not mistaking, that one is working. I don't know if I should say the name so I'm leaving that up to Gary Smiley

Someone passed this picture along to me-

Full size is here-

Note it has a Voodoo Graphics, not Voodoo II chipset.

Is that the VREngine VD1? Would make sense since the VD2 has a V2 chipset Tongue

Nope- 4116 requires a unique power supply like 8164.

The prototype board I have doesn't "require" a power board like the almost production pieces as it has ring terminals at the top.

Since I'm pretty sure 4 Voodoo 3 chips pulls a heck of a lot less amps then 8 VSA-100 chips I feel a wee bit safer tinkering with the board with a normal power supply.

Less I would imagine since Voodoo 3's have a few million less transistors each.

Depends on the chip manufacturing process, too.
0,35Micron Avengers will generate more heat (and use more power than) the 0,25 micreon chips. Since it's unlikely that Quantum3D used 0,35Micron chips I think the V3 will be slightly cooler than the VSA-100.

But that's only what I think. Maybe Hank does know the correct answer ?  Wink

Even if Gary could get a VREngine card - it'd be a pain in the 'you know where' to try and get it to work... Tongue

Weren't they only used in Arcade cabinets or something or for simulation purposes? ???

Would not try and get a VR board to function, drivers would be a problem I'd imagine.
