well the idea is funny to see a quad Chip SLI sollution again, but still the most effective SLI is still that of the Voodoo5 5000, 5500 & 6000.
They have with FSAA modes for 5000 and 5500's from FSAA x4 to FSAA x2 a boost of 100% in performance
a 6000 with FSAA x4 has the same speed as a 5500 or 5000 in FSAA x2 and a 6000 with FSAA x8 has the same speed as a 5000 and 5500 in FSAA x4.
3dfx Scan Line Interleave is even way more effective than ATi Cross Fire, I really never seen Cross Fire shine compared to 3dfx SLi [Scan Line Interleave] nor nVidia SLI [Scalable Link Interface].
I'd like to see a benchmark where the Low budget X1300 out performs a NV SLI 7800GTX then lol That rather hard to believe dude lol
BTW ATi has lot's of probllems like the availabillity of thier products, you need a CrossFire edition to use Crossfire other wise CrossFire will be pointless, well when ATi's Cross Fire edition is available on the market nVidia allready has thier next chip on sale.
inmost OpenGL games like Doom3 and Quake4 nVidia has the upperhand:
Doom3:
Quake4:
and D3D games like Black & White 2, Fear and Splinter Cell the NV set's win also:
Black & White2:
" It seems a bit odd to be inundated with red during BW2's ATI splash screen while performance is so abysmal. " lol they sponser a game that they can't even run propperly PWNed.
Fear:
Splinter Cell:
but the games BattleField2 and Day Of Defeat that is where ATi wins.
BattleField2:
Day Of Defeat:
Anyways these benches do tell the proof that nVidia's SLI is damn effective as it is. ATi's still got's lot's of patching up to do, let's hope that they also can deliver thier gear on time because the most clients are waiting to have thier products on sale ready and are not waitong for a nother pack of delays which is very clear to be ATi's problem.
ATI: The A is for Availability?
Let's just say that we haven't been happy with ATI's promises of availability as of late. Generally speaking, we would often be promised availability for a certain date, and generally speaking that date would come and go, with nothing to show for it (definitely not in the sense of actual availability).
Doesn't sound to prommissing
here more info to the whole article:
http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2649&p=1Anyways ATi's Cross Fire still need's lot's of patching up but they are getting in the right direction
Let's hope that the Radeon X1900 series will show us the true nature of ATi again but let's hope first that the availabillity get's patched up, because owning a top product but which has no availabillty is a pointless aim at the market.
