I dont get this OpenGL problem?
11.01.04 at 00:34:00

I dont understand if Mesa version 5.1 supports OpenGL 1.4 then why cant this be implemented for a driver set under a 3dfx card?  Mesa 6.0 is going to support OpenGL 1.5.  What I dont understand is, what is mesa for other than to provide support for OpenGL for older cards?  If a card is newer then it would alread support the latest OpenGL and mesa is useless to it.  But if you can get mesa to work with an older card doesnt it defeat its own purpose??

Thanks for any insight,
Chaos

no. opengl is different from direct3d in which certain have to be supported. in opengl some features could be realised by other implementations etc.
btw. mesafx is meant for 3dfx cards only.  Wink opengl 1.4 and later versions were not avaible in the year 2000, so 3dfx could not implement it.
