I have tried it some time ago,it runs max payne on a p4 2.6 cpu fairly well, but still nowhere near my trusty celeron600/voodoo3 3500tv combo ;D

You can also run the nature test and pixel shader tests from 3dmark 2001 with it on a v5 with about 1-2fps. Not too much fun... I don't think it has any practical use.

Well the question is, is there really a market for such a program? Most people that do any gaming, especially the hard core gamer, are already using an Nvidia or ATI card any way so the only people really needing something like this are the people like some of us that have older cards that are no longer "Officially Supported". I mean the 3DFX cards may have a use for this, and maybe someone running the old Kyro cards, but who else would really use this app? I have an old 8500 Radeon that still runs most games and anything bought now will have a card that is more powerfull then that card and that's over four years old now. Even my 9600 Pro card is 3 years old so I don't see where this app will really be of any use to someone. The only other people that may need this would be the people running on board video, like my generic Intel video card built into my laptop. Other then that, I don't see a need for it.

IMHO it's just a Program that expands the envelope of the old Video Cards a bit.
Probably not of much use for Gaming indeed (except for sneak-peeking how it looks like), but maybe good enough for non-fps sensitive Programs (where it mainly counts that it runs, much less at what speed). Still, overall a nice proof-of-concept (I remember trying to reach that goal with Thomas early into the 3D Analyzer Alpha development stages) |

Yeah I suppose your right FalconFly, like Civ or something that's turn based or something. I guess RPG's would benifit from this, maybe NWN's or something.
