Title: Issue with SFFT 1.0-1.5
Post by elfuego on 04.06.09 at 03:06:14
I've tried running SFFT on windows XP SP3 + DX 9.0c and V5 5500 AGP. It works perfectly. At least up until I reset the computer. Then windows loads up at resolution of 640x480 with 4(!) colors.

The solution is easy enough though - I return the windows default V5 driver, restart windows, re-install SFFT, restart and everything is fine. Up until next restart, then its all over again.

Did anyone have this issue so far? Any ideas? As I said, I might even live with this, but it gets boring reinstalling the driver after a while.

P.S. The thing I like most about this driver is that full 64MB are reported to dxdiag, so a hardware acceleration for Adobe Flash is possible!

Thats not really encouraging :( I installed SFFT 1.5 after a clean install of WinXP. Oh well... I'll just keep on reinstalling the driver  ::)

hmmm, maybe that dumb xp file protection system is kicking in for reasons unknown, messing up files on every reboot..but I doubt it.

you say all drivers newer than 1.0 behave this way?

Yes. But I noticed that windows doesnt drop the driver after every reset. Well, sometimes it does, but sometimes I get a few restarts extra (lets say about 3-5) before the driver is dropped.

I'm currently on 1.4, which allows me 2-3 restarts before dropping... or its just my imagination. Reinstall is out of the question as I already over-did my online activation and I have no love for calling and talking to M$ support :P
