Strange Voodoo II??

Hey guys,

I came across a voodoo2, which I've never seen before, but I'm sure you guys have.

So I was hoping that one of you might know which one it is.

It says 12MB Voodoo2, 3dfx interactive inc, on the middle of the card, nothing new, but it only has ram chips on 1 side of the card, 12 pieces of them, but I was under the impression that it was 8 on one side and 4 on the other.

But that's not all, the pcb date is 0008, seems a little late for voodoo2 cards, as by that time, voodoo5 was released or on the doorstep.

And in my eyes, the strangest about the card is, it doesn't have the old tilted 3dfx logo on the chips, but the new one, with the x arching over the rest, but then in 1 color.

I will post pics in about an hour, kinda hoping this is not normal for a voodoo2, but seeing that it has a sticker on the back, I doubt it is.

The common Voodoo 2-cards can have following configurations:
- 12 chips on the front, 12 chips on the back, then it is a 12 MB-card with 512 KB-chips
- 12 chips on the front, 4 on the back, then it is an 8 MB-card with 512 KB-chips
- 12 chips on the front, none on the back, then it is a 12 MB-card with 1 MB-chips (I only saw that on V2 1000/STB Blackmagics which are the same cards and Evilking II's)

Good thing is I didn't pay much for it. thanks for the info guys.

Would you be interested in it if it turns out it works??

I still own two Powercolor V2 cards with new 3dfx logos and pcb-date from the year 2k. But the memory layout from your card is really interesding. I need pics. Maybe then i will change my dicesion
