V5/AGP voltage: Should I trust in the mobo manual?

ECS K7VTA3 v5.0 with VIA KT333 chipset (non ''CF'' version), have a AGP universal slot, but in the manual, there's a little note that says "AGP 1,5v only''... doesn't make sense, because KT333 is 3,3v capable.

I think that ECS is not talking about voltage, but the slot AGP model, because in the manual, the AGP slot is showed keyed to 4X only, but they assume that mobo layout can be different. However, I dont have sure, and I don't wanna fry my V5. Any opinions will be appreciated.

Reply #1 - 03.06.15 at 06:49:11 Plug in a 3.3V card from a different vendor to be sure ECS K7VTA3 v3.1 definitely is 3.3V capable, the v5.0 officially not. When I look at pictures of the v5.0 revision... I only see AGP 4x keyed slots. Are you sure the manual fits to the board? Btw.: Welcome to the forum

I don't have this mobo, I'm just looking for compatibility. Maybe I will buy it and, as you say, try to put another AGP2x card and see what happens. Both are cheap anyway, so I don't care if burn.

I know that are a lot of others KT333 mobos like Asus A7V333, Gigabyte 7VRXP, MSI KT3 Ultra2 etc... but is hard to find in this days.

Hello,

As Radu told you above I also tested it with my V5-6000 and it worked perfect. What I did first is check the chipset if it is KT333, all is ok, it means compatible 3.3V agp but if instead of it is KT333CF it means only compatible with 1.5V agp.

Anyway, if you still not sure you can use a multimeter and check what voltage in agp slot is feeding.

Here you can check what pinout is feeding 3.3V or 1.5V- test in 'hot' with a pure agp3.3v VGA card and take out what is the voltge.

ps. ECS K7VTA3 Rev. 6.0 already uses chipset KT333CF, not compatible with V3.3AGP.

Reply #5 - 05.06.15 at 21:47:05 Thank you guys for all comments, as I said before, I will simple try to put another AGP2x card and see what happens, or wait to buy another motherboard. osckhar According to ECS, is the 8.0 version that have KT333CF... in the v6.0 manual, the 1,5v warning is not even mentioned.
