Title: Viewtop 3dfx cards Post by LuxKiller65 on 19.02.05 at 13:00:05
I was wondering if somebody has a link to or knows what were the 3dfx-based cards made by Viewtop and if these are rare. Thanks!

Thanks Nitro, I found the one I was looking for!
View Top Rush with AT25 2D renderer What can you tell me about it? Just an usual old card or something I should get to start my collection? :P |

To my knowledge there really aren't any 'special' Voodoo Rush cards. The Voodoo Rush is probably the card with the least amount of variations :P
As to starting your collection; any card will do as long as it's Voodoo ;D |

It's there already.
The Helios 3D is from A-Trend. At least, that's what I've been told. |

What's the difference between single and dual planar?
|
Title: Re: Viewtop 3dfx cards Post by FalconFly on 20.02.05 at 10:35:05
The Single Planar Cards are on one, unified PCB (which made some Voodoo Rush Cards very long and big).
Dual Planar saves space by simply connecting the Voodoo1 Module as an independent PCB onto the 2D PCB. (making the principle sandwich design look a little bit like a Quantum SB200 or a MP540 with Voodoo Module) The Hercules Stingray 128/3D is AFAIK the only card that shipped in both versions. |

Yes, I saw it on your 3dfx collection list and that's why I came with that question. Thanks FalconFly!
So, in general, old 3dfx cards, when they come with box and manuals and CD, are good for collection and are becoming more and more hard to find, am I right? |
Title: Re: Viewtop 3dfx cards Post by NitroX infinity on 20.02.05 at 15:43:07
Yep.
Cards in retail status will be worth more and more in the future. Especially is they're still sealed. |

I find it hard not to open sealed things, even when I buy them for collection purpose!
;D To goriath: I'm looking for the exact same card you posted a picture of here (Vulcan 3D). But the one I saw hasn't got the heatsink! Who knows if the card actually comes with or without it? ??? |

I only have 2 "sealed" boxes myself, a 50SB-4440 and a Diamond Voodoo II with game pack both of which I have unboxed duplicates. I do have a few that have been new and opened by me to verify contents but either are so common as to not make much of a difference IMHO (Creative Labs Banshee) or so rare as to not make a difference either (Hercules Stingray2 boxed SLI) Who would turn down a boxed Stingray2 SLI because it wasn't "sealed"? No one I know. ;D |
