What card is this??
02.12.03 at 11:43:32

I just bought this 3dfx card on eBay.

...

Does anyone recognize it?
From what I know, it doesn't look like a voodoo1, could it be a Voodoo Rush?

Janskjaer.

yep, looks so...as there has been many board designs for the voodoo rush (together with other chipsets on the same board) you should get the S/N on the chips..

check
http://www.plasma-online.de/index.html?content=http%3A//www.plasma-online.de/eng...
to identify your chip more exactly.  Wink

I have one currently working for me in an AthlonXP System Wink

From the historical reports, its 2D/3D performance apparently was about the lowest of all Voodoo Rush cards, and it seems not many people bought it.

Requiring its own, special Driver also certainly did not help this Card, back in its time...

...but it sure makes for a nice collector's Item, and well, it still works Wink

Here is another card I am puzzled about.  The thing that bothers me most is that I have seen this card before, but I'm not sure what it is?  I thought it was a Quantum3D card, but then I thought maybe it could be a Rush?  I can't remember! Angry
...

It's the one in the top-left.  They guy selling it thinks it's a Voodoo2 along the rest! Roll Eyes

I quote an important figure in 3dfx history:
"The Rush was such a bastard child at 3dfx that I'm sure they just tried to flush it from their memory."
Apart from collecting purposes, it's not worth it! Really, the Rush was a flakey card. It's performance is slower than original Voodoo Graphics (they said is because the PUMA architecture). It also misses some important hardware capabilities.

PS: someone stated somewhere on this forum that all 3dfx cards were SLI capable, except Banshee! I'd say all 3dfx cards were SLI capable, except their "castrated" cards: Banshee + Rush! Unlike Rush, the Banshee was an excellent card (both on 2D/3D, but the fact that had only one TMU was a negative aspect).

Yes, the Rush would be for collecting purposes and a minor 3dfx benchmark test.

I have only just noticed on the picture of the Rush card I am asking about, is that the 3dfx chipsets are installed upside down!  Wink

Take another look! Roll Eyes

I have another picture of another card here!
...
Is this also a Rush? I think so!  Roll Eyes
I'm sure I'm starting to see the trend but it's always best to be sure.
There arer so many different trends for the Voodoo Rush boards, you can never be too certain.

Yep, the above is definitely a Dual Planar Voodoo Rush Smiley

You're right about the various incarnations of the Rush.
Some single Planar boards are literally hughe, while some are rather compact (I guess later, better integrated layouts), and there are multiple types of Dual Planar Boards as well.

Good think is, that the majority runs with 3dfx reference Drivers (after a little hacking Device ID Numbers, probably all would run).

This is titled as a "Hercules Stingray". True of false?

...

Reason I ask is that I don't know much about the Hercules products. Embarrassed

Yep, from the looks of it, it is a Hercules Stingray 128/3D (Dual Planar w/ Daughterboard).
