Title: A-Trend ATC6254M obtained... need help!
Post by TM30 on 28.01.07 at 04:07:23
Today i got my A-Trend ATC6254M Slot1 Mainboard with 3dfx Voodoo 3 3000 16MB onboard!

but it does not work. i found the failure very quickly. A burned up Mosfet :( I found nothing of this in the ebay auction >:( I will ask the seller what he "thinks" about this.

Anyway, when i boot up the system the cpu without cooler doesnt create any heat, so the cpu doesnt get voltage...

Do you think i can replace that mosfet with a similar one from another slot1 board?

That might help, since it would sound logical , if you would replace a broken part with a good working new part, but to be honest i'm not that technical heh.

I hope you get it fixed mate, it certanly is a nice Mobo, you could otherwise blame the seller, he should of known this problem, wierd on that part though heh :-/

Looks like the mosfet is the same one as the working mosfet above it... ;)

Writing reads:

F 9928 (F = Fairchild Semiconductor)
NDB6030L

1. So I Googled and found THIS if it helps... :)

http://www.tvservice.org/components/FCROS1.pdf

...just open the PDF and search for NDB6030L ;)

2. THIS page has some info on the specific mosfet (unfortunately the datasheet it for members only!) ::)

http://www.digchip.com/datasheets/parts/datasheet/161/NDB6030L.php

...but most of the info you can read there anyhow! ;)

3. THIS page seems to sell the part you need (although it's in German, so you might need a translation page) :P

http://de.farnell.com/jsp/endecaSearch/partDetail.jsp?SKU=741449&N=0

...if you do need translation to order, use HERE :): -

http://translation.langenberg.com/

...well, I think that covers everything...I'm going to bed now! ::)

JOB well done methinks! ;D

Oh, GOOD LUCK WITH THE MB! :D

Hope you can get that sucka' working! 8)

Also, remember that some mosfets are static sensitive! :o

It should be a piece of cake for anyone with a little experience in soldering to exchange that burned transistor.

And I think it's very easy to find that transistor in other regular motherboards or just as is in a store that sell electronic parts.

yes i am already in contact with one guy. i hope he can fix it. i want to test it. it offers FSB up to 150Mhz which is really nice... okay the PCI and AGP will rise but i hope at least at 133Mhz FSB the PCI is fixed...

Hmm... I thought this board only offically supported 100MHz FSB :-/

Good Luck with it though :)

yeah every 440BX Board officially only supports FSB100... but some boards have a dividor at 133Mhz to work...

Yamaha On-Board, I like those :) Good SB Compatibility for the early games back when this board was popular.

I know it's not as good as the SB AWE32 but a darn good on-board sound solution ;)

I like how it has a thermal probe on the Voodoo 3! 8)

@  TM30

I suppose those mosfetts are easy to replace?
Unless you allready found a sollution :)

It should support Tualatin CPU's with a small modification

yes i await contact from a guy who has knowledge with this stuff. he first will test it replacing a mosfet on another defective board he owns...

Replacing MOSS-FETs soldered onto a PCB is a very easy task, asa simple as exchanging the cappacitors. Good thing about those transistors is there are alot of compatible equivalent models for any given specs.
@TM30
Please use a multimeter to check the neighboring circuits of the dead MOSS-FET for any damage. Sometimes a transistors gives up because of the stress caused by another component linked to it. This mainboard is looking very nice, congrats!
Good luck!
