Boeing's new B747-400 LCF!

Here is Boeing newest freighter!
Boeing B747-400 LCF [Large Cargo Freighter]
Some oddball hey
here's some nice info I found of this oddball:
http://www.flug-revue.rotor.com/FRHeft/FRHeft06/FRH0602/FR0602e.htm
In short it reads that thios B744LCF is meant to be part of the B787 transport program, to transport B787 Hull Parts from A to B:
"The engineers from several countries have no easy task: they are required to adapt three used Boeing 747-400 passenger aircraft to transport the bulky and largely pre-assembled wings and fuselage segments of the 787, whose fuselage diameter measures 5.74m, from Japan, the south of the USA and Europe for final assembly in Everett."
Here an artist's impression of the aircraft when fully painted:
"The fuselage of the 747-400 LCF will even be 45.7cm wider than that of an A380. According to Boeing, the 747 LCF will actually be the biggest cargo aircraft in the world in terms of volume. Its length is to be extended by three metres, while its vertical tail unit will be raised by 1.5 metres. To enable the bulky cargo to be loaded without problems, a swing zone is being created at the rear end."
So it's even dwarfing The A380's cargo space , that's amazing! Anyways the aircraft is some strange thing to see fly'n around, I wonder what Airbus's reaction will be to this one
A 1/72nd scale model of this B744LCF would be very demanding to build though

Considering the A380 isn't an extended Cargo Plane in the first place, nothing spectacular.
If the A380 was to be modified in the same way, it would exceed the B747-400 in all aspects, therefor it's a lame comparison (Boeing couldn't come up with something better for PR I guess).
A true PR man would say :
It's barely bigger than a large Passenger Jet, but it gets the job done and was the cheapest solution

uhm you were say'n that the A380 is no Cargo plane , well it is, here the A380F
http://www.airbus.com/en/aircraftfamilies/a380/a380f/
The cargo varriant of the A380 that is what the other article meant , though they didn't write it down
Boeing' B744LCF still exceeds that A380F qua Cargo space, and yes Boeing's idea is cheaper and more to the point
But yes the A380F has much more ellegance ans style, dunno if it's maximum range is compared to the B744LCF though

Gary meant the A380F is exactly the same size as the normal passenger version so if Airbus would extend the A380F in that way Boeing did it with the 747-400 LCF it would be much bigger.
You compare an extended Version (longer, bigger diameter of the fuselage) of the 747-400 with a "normal" (measured by size) version of the A380F so they aren't really comparable.

yes it is
Boeing still has the largger freighter hull out there with the 744 LCF
Ofcourse you can compare it anyone could, and uhm where did you see Gary post 'bout that?
Didn't see him post'n that.
The A380F is used to had the largest cyllendar based Hull, The B744LCF has that for now.
Modification or no modification it still has that record
It's a far cheaper way of do'n just use your good ole B744 mainframe, mod it with a bigger Hull and Higher Tail section and also make it so you can swing open the hull for easy loading, that is also a way a new plane can be made, so you can see it as a modification but you can also see it as a new aircraft which it certainly is. 8)

Oops, did I write Gary? I meant Falconfly...
I think we talk at cross-purposes...
Yes, it is a fact that the 744 LCF is the larger freighter, but it is
only because
Airbus didn't extended their A380.
In one way they are comparable (sheer size where the Boeing is bigger) but in another way they aren't (extended B744 vs. standard size A380 which is surely a bit better because it's a tested structure and not an enlarged version which hasn't been tested enough yet so there could be some awkward surprises).

Well, my point was :
Add a typical "Super Guppy" Frame onto the A380, and you'll get 50% more size than this new Boeing, that's it.

it all depends on how you see a new aircarft not?
It's Boeing's newest B747 line for large freight loads, especially Aircraft Hulls, Wings and other large sections.
the B743 was seen as a new aircraft as well aka B747-300 so why not the B747-400LCF heh?
It looks fantastic, a new B747 Freighter , still looks nice like the Airbus A300-600 Beluga does.
Boeing just made another smart move that is all

Uhm the discussion about 744LCF vs. A380F is senseless. Because Boeing will only use this giant for internal Boeing issues. It is not a jet for the worldwide market. Like the A300 Beluga.
In addition:
This jet will be painted in the Boeing "Dreamliner" coloursheme. First airplane arrived a couple of weeks ago in Seattle for some final checks and painting.
Arriving in Seattle:

btw: This plane is NOT new. They used an "old" 747-400 and modified it. Aircraft was waiting for a new customer or the scrapyard.
