Looking for a shot of the 2 Rampage cards!

Hi ya all

well since the 3dfx Specter aka Rampage 2000 cards have been famed by all of us and yes some of us have them too, consider yourselves greatfull hehe.

Well to get this one go'n Smiley Are there any shots of the Rev.A0 4600 card as the Rev.A1 4700 card on one shot?

If somebody has a photo with both Rampy's on one shot, would it be possible to see that ?

These cards must cost like buying a new Daihatsu Cuore or something Lips Sealed
...
=

... Grin

Friendly regards.

Jedi Master,

Obi-Wan Kenobi.

anyways all I have seen were some shots of some Rev.A1 boards aka the Rev.A1 4700's:

With AAvid Fan:
...

With Clampshell Heatsink:
...

but what about a nice pic of the Rev.A0 4600 board how does that one look lke compared to the Rev.A1 4700 boards?

That is what I am after a photo with a Rev.A1 4700 like we know them today with and without the clampshell heatsink and a pic of a Rev.A0 4600 togeather on one shot.

Uhm, Rampage is the codename. The cardnames would have been Specter 1000, 2000 and 3000. And the cards on the photo's you posted are all Specter 1000 cards.

no problem, but I also seen it from other Rampage keepers Wink

Anyways the only Rev.A0 4600 pics I have seen were the ones with the glueclamp:
...

this is the card I am looking for, for a top and bottom view of that card.
The ex-3dfx employee Andy Handson seemed to have been part of the Rampage program :
http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?id=1156050

"#40,   They are real. Just like I remember from the lab.   :  Andy Hanson ...."

So was this Dolomite dude:

"Those are real. I know, I used to work for 3dfx.

121A is the Vendor ID for 3dfx. The version of PCI.EXE that is running on that monitor is from around '95, and Intel didn't put our Vendor ID into their exe. Run PCI.EXE with a V5 in your rig and you'll see 121A as the vendor ID string.

The reason it looks so wierd is that THOSE ARE BRING UP BOARDS!! (Note the AGP riser card for testing bus timings) It is not indicative of the final board at all."

here more info I have come across:
http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?comments=13666

So these are Bring Up boards, I still wonder how they look like from top as bottom view, anyways what was so different from these compared to the Rev.A1 4700's?

What the engineers called it and what the final product name (determined by marketing dept) will be are two different names.

Recall that Voodoo 3 was first called Banshee II then Avenger before it became Voodoo 3. Early bios images actually indicate "Avenger" not Voodoo 3

A total of 20 were made (estimated) of the 20 the location of 4 are known.

Of the first batch (10) a number were known to not function or at best were used for PCB/Ram testing.

What were these cards caable of, could they run the Quantum3D OpenGVS demo's and did Quantum3D have plans for an AALchemy system based on VSA 200 orsay Rampage 2000?

I doubt they will pop up, they technically were property of Nvidia after all.

Were lucky a few slipped out, from what I understand most of 3dfx assets were checked at the door to prevent them from wandering off.

time we went to NV and had a peek inside haha like they would ever agree there Roll Eyes

I mean what usage does NV have from those Rampage cards for usage of thier later chips? If I were them I would sell 'em to a 3dfx community or so Grin, well that's my kind thinking then heh Smiley

I suspect most if not all were auctioned off to help pay for 3dfx debts or ended up in a landfill.
