..but the improvement in MS anti-copy schemes is undeniable-this time, the OS actally got fully cracked only after being released.

arrr.

..remember that picture that shows a hand holding a working copy of xp right in front of that big MS board displaying "xp-30 days till release"? too bad I dont have it around anymore.. ;D

they will NEVER learn.

after Windows 2000 Professional it went downwards "XP" had the nickname X-tra Problems "Me" had the nice Massial X-tinction

98SE also wasn't too great qua stabillity it was well known of the great number of BSOD's aka Blue Screen Of Death's heh 2000 Pro was the only suitable OS from MS ever made, 98SE with the UnOfficial Service pack made 98SE alot more stable but it could never match the reliabillity of 2000 Pro.

Such a shame that all the games as other programs that exsist need to rely on the most crappiest OS maker aka MicroSoft, personally I would rather prefer Linux, onlyI would have to learn how to use it since it's not something you would get used to so easilly while never have worked with it.

Seen Linux at friend's places and it really look amazing.

You can see it on youtube too ;)

for the matrix lovers:
http://208.65.153.251/watch?v=kYgV2GlsufI&mode=related&search=
and in the end: vista pwnage ;)
http://208.65.153.251/watch?v=xC5uEe5OzNQ&mode=related&search=

and only for u Obi - a possibility to use windows inside of linux:
http://208.65.153.251/watch?v=QOWeeVvhiAw&mode=related&search=

-now you can have linux, and play any game you like. Now go to Ubuntu website and get your ubuntu now:
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download
-or you can of course order a totaly free CD and it comes to your doorstep totaly, literaly, free of any charge. How's that?  :)

P.S. I dropped mandriva and changed to ubuntu; and I'm pleased :) My desktop does not use the fire effect, but the water effect - I guess there must be some of it on youtube, but I'll leave it to you to find it :)

is there also a classic style like Win2K is I don't prefer the 3D stuff I just want a fast, stable and reliable multifunctional OS ;) also the reason I choose 2K Pro.

I am dwnloading that Linux Ubuntu OS right now gonna give it a go, since it does look promissing ;)

BTW I always take usage of FireFox 1.5.0.11, never IE ;) so hey @ least it's a good way of do'n.

..as for MS OSes,I must say that 98se+service pack+nusb & xpsp2 both work fine for me (after two service packs,xp is starting to be a decent system if you tweak it a little, and if you dont mind a small stupidity here and there,my personal favorite is dx overlay speed fix idiotism)

didnt touch 2000 much, didnt really like it..kinda felt like 9x with some xp stuff imported.

well I have been running 2000 Pro for 7 years since it exsisted and it's runs much more stable, faster as more reliable than that crappy XP Pro , XP Pro needed alot of tweaking to get it right since there is so much pollution in it like unwanted things that do not belong in a professional OS, 2000 Pro doesn;t have those unwanted things, it just has the perfect professional look and feel.

Networking under 2000 Pro is also alot more to the point.

I used to think so till I lost critical data due to one blue screen of death to many. As much as I like Win98SE it has too many issues with handling memory and getting taken down when a program does something stupid.

Now since I moved over to 2000Pro more or less 2 years ago things have been MUCH more pleasant.

Tried XP and XP Pro, hate the "dumbed down for the masses" interface Microsoft is pushing. Much rather perfer a lean and mean OS that I can get "to the point" quickly as one other poster mentioned.

Well don't look at me :o

I was happy with DOS 6.22 SB16 and a CDrom driver. I hated when they started making games that required Win3.1 to run >:( At first the games were cheesy :D Then some good Win95 games started coming out.

Now I have dual boot 98SE and XP (XP for work and games that require it). I have a copy of Vista extreme addition (or what ever the $259.USD version is) I received as a gift, I have yet to break the seal on it...

Anyone for some Doom?

Title: Re: Vista gets PWNed...again!
Post by Obi-Wan_Kenobi on 21.05.07 at 11:47:23
heh Doom runs fine under 2000, even that 2000 has a much better glide support than XP pro as Vista so who would need them in the first place :)

in 2000 Pro I can play Glide games like Unreal, Unreal: Return To Na Pali, StarWars: Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight, StarWars: Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight: Mysteries Of The Sith, Star Wars: EpisodeI: Racer, StarWars: X-Wing Alliance all @ 1024 x 768 x16 in Glide with FSAA x4 & LOD Bias -8 on my 5500 AGP/PCI as FSAA x8 & LOD Bias -8 on the 6000 AGP :)

with XP this was impossible since I had to turn off the LOD Biassing to get a playable frame rate heh!
2000 is faster as better suppoerted in Glide, 98SE + UnOfficial Service Pack 2.1a is the best for the dutch version use 2.03NL :)

Title: Re: Vista gets PWNed...again!
Post by Obi-Wan_Kenobi on 22.05.07 at 00:47:51
well Domm3 is original since id Software like they made Doom, Ultimate Doom, DoomII as Final Doom heh Final Doom had very nice tense levels, remember the one with like 30 Arch Villes in it, the level was very tight as well, when one died it was respawned by the other hahaha damn sick man 30 of them beasts of horror   ;D ;D ;D I was thrilling mfao haha

That was primitive.

I don't go back that far. I used to play Blake Stone and Rise of the Triads. I didn't care much for Wolfenstein but Doom was cool 8)

I am not sure if this was irony or not... If it was, it is a very, very lousy one:
http://www.linuxhardware.org/article.pl?sid=04/10/12/1725246
Doom3 runs perfectly on linux, and (!) there is no driver cheating (lowering pic quality) in linux. Therefore, it looks better (although a bit slower) in linux.

I think its time to educate yourselves in open source way ;) And Paul, Linux can indeed run allmost anything - well, even Vista!

A shame that Microsoft Fight Simulator 2004 & 2006 aka X don't run since they are most important to me heh. for FS 2004 I use Win2K Pro for 2006 I have to use XP Pro oh well it has been fully tweaked so all the crap has been taken out of it, it's almost the same size as 2000 Pro now LOL hahaha

Such a shame that Linux ain't that user friendly compared to Windows 2000 Pro, which is still the best OS imho, since it works perfectly with everything and it get's to the point.

@elfuego - hmm..partially true.

Linux games fall into one of three categories:

1)Direct port - games that directly support linux

2)Open Source - games ported by individuals

3)Emulated - either through D3D amulator or O.S. emulators such as WiNE, etc...

Even then, not ALL games will be supported - but you are correct in saying that the majority indeed are.

Not yet, but soon my friend :) In a few years, when linux becomes more popular, some things are going to change and games are one of them.
Thanks to Vista that sucks, and great beryl/compiz linux 3D interface (and not only that) linux is becoming more popular. I mean, even Obi tried it :) That's a start! In a few years he's going to be a linux guru  8) Then we're about to see native linux games and say M$ good riddance.  :)

well 3dfx Glide support is most of importance and still 98SE as 2000 Pro are better at it, but there are plenty 3dfx Gide Games for Linux which is cool 8) it's going the right way even for the new gen stuff, but since I'm a pro ATi/3dfx user I prefer ATi support for Linux which isn't the case so far, driver have somewhat improved but the Geforce cards seem to be the best choice for new gen cards for the Linux OS.

For everyone that still belives in M$:
http://www.regdeveloper.co.uk/2007/04/29/vista_end_dream/

and a leaked win 2000 code:
http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2004/2/15/71552/7795

Quote:
"Moving swiftly on to 2004, I met with one of the biggest disappointments of my life. Part of the source code to Windows 2000 was leaked onto the net and – yes, you’ve guessed – I took a little peek at it. Instead of the finely honed (well, fairly finely honed) assembler code which had graced the early days of MSDOS, I found a vast sprawl of spaghetti in assembler, C, C++, all held together with blu-tack. The sources contained many now-famous comments including “We are morons” and “If you change tabs to spaces, you will be killed! Doing so f***s the build process”."
