If you do some quick math that's a high increase. I don't really like eBay anymore due to so many things getting more expensive over the last few years. Ebay is great in respects to the market that you can target with it.

Wow! that's sick!
So to summarize:
Media went up 1%
Other Categories went up or down slightly depending on final value.
Technology went up A LOT! Except if you sell something over 600 Pounds, then you save some money.

I hope ebay.com will be kinder to my wallet.

It has become costlier as investors expect more and more returns yearly... Still this is a bad way to take it out on sellers

It may be due to the growing popularity worldwide for classified listing's on free sites including the one owned by ebay! With less people using it they simply put up their fees to compensate for lost income.
Also ebay has been trying to steer itself away from private sellers and more towards buisness sellers for ages as well.

I'm sure the execs at ebay.com have put some time into evaluating if the price hike is worth it....

However, I think that if you lower fees you will make more money as more people will drink your Kool-Aid. But since they own some of the competition (Kijiji.com for one) that offers free listings, that changes the strategy. I wish a real alternative to ebay was out there. We used to have Yahoo Auctions, and the rest don't really measure up.

Yes, I am sure they spent a lot of time deciding if they wanted a larger bonus this year.
Ebay is where everyone goes to look so is the best place to sell. After building their business up on selling goods for private sellers they want to price them out in favour of the less troublesome commercial retailers. They are easier to control with performance based pricing structures.
If I had a V5 6000 to sell, ebay would probably get me more money for it, offsetting the HIGH FEES. Thinking about it I'm sure I would get a good price here to but without the safeguards.

Did they put up Paypal fees yet? ;)
