eloooos YaBB Newbies Offline --- Posts: 19 Poland Gender:	need a value of resistors for V5 5500 16.08.09 at 20:27:31 Hello. Anybody knows values of resistors (or it could be a capacitors?) C509, C510, C514, C516, C539 on V5500? My card lack this resistors, but works ok. Thank's for any help.

I have no idea about the values. But, its good to know that the card still works. A couple months ago I recieved a v5500 and it was missing a couple of caps near the molex connector. Ive since taken it and had an electronics tech store replace the caps with ones of similar values. I havent tried it yet. though. I just took a look at it and they were c76 and c90.

Just wanted to chime in.

Hello Eloooos.

I have one V5 5500 using for help several times this way. In the next days, assumed finding some time, I establish the values for you. I will desolder and measure them. Electronic parts marked with a "c" will be capacitors, for normal.

Further I want to use this posting to say Hello to this Falconfly community. New in this forum, but approximately two years active in VoodooAlert. Only giving a short overviev:
Coming from Germany near Hannover and working as Aircraft Engineer in Avionics and having 25 Years experience in Radio-TV technic.

So I hope I can do my contribution in this 3dfx community, following the philosophy to sharing knowledge between each other, for everyones advantage.

eloooos, It might also be helpful if you were to specify some additional information about your card. Is it PCI or AGP? Is it a retail card or OEM? Are there any markings that give information about the revision/version of the card? The values and/or presence of the capacitors you are interested might be different depending on the factors listed above, and you may be comparing apples and oranges if you don't get a good match with the person who provides you with the information you requested.

It would be very helpful to take some closeup photos from the part positions and the card itself, front and back. By the way, all of the caps are on the back (non-fan) side of the card. I don't have a "test" card like Backfire, and I don't think I can manage the SMD parts with the soldering equipment I have, so I can't help with the values.

No worries about. Tomorrow I attempt to take a hour for checking the values of the capacitors.
My old card I use for this, knows the sorrow. Wink

But until now, it didn't die.

But the only thing is strange for me: Whats going on, so much people have missing parts on this graphics cards. Huh

Ok, an Elko can be ripped off, but a flat little SMD?

For me is important that the card is still running with no problems, but i think that will be better when I solder capacitors where they needed.

There are the Values of the capacitors you requested: All, C509 / 510 / 514 / 516 / 539 are 100nF Types. Sadly one of the Capacitors gonna lost during the analyzing. But I can replace it. That's it. With pleasure.

I guess the cap's are for DC smoothing. When there signals passing through, then you have had serous problems with the card, for sure.
This may be the reason why the card is still operational, without the caps.
Have a close look on the card and lookout if you find some other damage.

But basically it's good to assemble the Parts where they belonging.
