Today I had a stressful afternoon.

This last weekend I was playing with my special  V5-6000 with 4ns and while I was playing my pc locked up and when I restart it V5-6000 does not boot up. I tested with a second V5-6000 and PC was ok. In this point I already am guessing the worse and my 6k could be dead.

Fastly I went for testing my 6k with PCI.EXE with a PCI vga set as primary card. PCI register did not show any 3dfx id vender. In this case the only solution if you are sure your card is dead is go for reemplacing the CHIP hint bridge.

v5-6000 REWORK

• Here my baby. It uses 4ns sdram.

• Before to do the chip hint rework I reemplaced the condensator C4. It was in very bad stated.

• Once unsoldered the chip bridge HINT.

• Here new chip bridge soldered.

And here my baby alive again!!! 



Not stress test until new heatsink is attached at the card.

Once fixed my baby is time to go for V5-6000 A3 came in with Y2 missing.

I added new cooler for V5-6000.




Yupe, or I choosen a big heatsink or fans are too much small. Something is wrong here. LoL  Anyway it looks nice.


Note- The weight of the 4 sinks is very little. It is the advantage of using aluminum

V5-6000 A3 MISSING L2 COIL 12V

Since there are people asked me about V5-6000 A3 with missing L2 coil. I have added some pics from the rework I did.

• V5-6000 3400 A3 ORIGINAL E-TAG

• MISSING L2 COIL 12V

• CLEANED ZONE NOT EXTRA TIN PAD.

• ADDED NEW 12V COIL - Not perfect alligned but I did effect mirror L3.

• V5-6000 3400 A3 PERFECT WORKING.

As curiosity-  master VSA-100 cluster ram is based 5ns Hyunday when the rest has use Toshiba 5.4ns.
