Quake III £££ CHA-CHING! $$$
09.09.04 at 17:02:01

Ok, I know the metal tin limited edition of Quake III Arena was limited edition, but not that limited!  Shocked

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8128461341

That is purely ridiculous!  Roll Eyes  One just went 10 minutes ago for £16.50 WITH Team Arena (I bid £15.00 for it Wink, thought I'd pick one up, sell it off, and make a profit!) but why so much for the first one?!

Only two days ago, one went for just over £5.00.  Undecided

Well I have the following, ALL retail boxed with everything, most of them are all mine bought from new, in which I have the receipt still for them Smiley :

Quake
2x Quake 1
Quake Mission Pack 1: Scourge of Armagon
Quake Mission Pack 2: Dissolution of Eternity

Quake II
Quake II
Quake II Mission Pack: The Reckoning
Quake II Mission Pack: Ground Zero
Quake II Net Pack: Extremeties

Quake III Arena
Quake III Arena
Quake III: Team Arena

Only really interested in id's official releases.  You could go on forever if you wanted to get everything else!

I bet he asked one of his friends to bid on his item to see how high the reserves were on the other bidders. It happen to me once. Angry

I would never pay $128! Tongue

I own a tin version of the Q3 for PC. Only $30 for the Linux Tin version. The linux tin version is the same as the pc version execpt the CDs.

I saw Quake III Gold in the shops yesterday.  It was a hybrid version for both PC and Mac!  It was damn heavy for a DVD case box!  Wink

Heh I own Quake 3 GOLD! Grin

The reason it's SOOO heavy is that it has 2 CD's and 2 manuals! Roll Eyes

CD1 = Quake 3 (PC/MAC)
CD2 = Team Arena

But it's the manuals that make it HEAVY! Tongue

I have both Q3 and TA fully retail boxed.  The manuals with the original versions aren't that heavy!  But I suppose the reason why the Q3 Gold manuals are so heavy is because they have to cater for the Macintosh documentation too!

Are the Q3 CD's a hybrid too? (one disc with both versions on) Or is there like 4 CD's in the package?

I can confirm that there are TWO CD's in the box...

From what I remember the Q3 CD is hybrid - whereas team arena (I think) is PC only... Tongue

I could be wrong though as the game has been stored away now in a box in my uncles house. Roll Eyes

(I have too many PC games, so he stores them for me - whilst I have all the console games!) Grin

Hm, just go and see your friendly drugstore.

There are alot of special Solutions and anti-adhesive chemicals that can be safely used on those Sticky Tags Wink

If all fails, very warm water vapor usually still helps, old "grandma's trick" first employed by stamp collectors to get them off the Envelopes ... Grin

back to the good ol' days!  Grin

The joy of sitting there for over an hour, frustratingly picking away at the residue that persists in getting us even madder!

Still, I suppose something has to keep us occupied in keeping these collections maintained, rather than stuff them straight into a cupboard as soon as they have been purchased!

It's all good fun in the end!  Wink
