Title: Goodbye!
Post by orlando on 25.10.02 at 12:27:50
I recently changed my sys from k6/2@500/voodoo3000 to xp1700+/geforce4400 to be able  to use 32 bits dx 8.1 games, and by now i m a little bit frustrated! For example, good ol' ut had better image quality on my ol v3, and it was as fast! I miss the brilliant colors of the voodoo chip, those nvidia colors always look, well, not that good! And the  difference in visual effects,FSAA etc? No big deal, still slowdowns, strangely looking playermodels - compared to the price and features its still a poor performance.Nvidia isjust selling crap! I think, if 3dfx had survived, we d' had games that look twice as good as pc games used to look now!

Yes, the Image Quality of 3dfx Cards is still one of the best existing, when it comes to vivid colors :)

Anyway, you might increase your performance and image quality by using the latest Renderers for UT.

Those got (silently) upgraded in September the last time.

The two latest releases of both OpenGLdrv.dll and D3Ddrv.dll were specifically aimed at helping ATI Radeon and NVidia GeForce owners to redeem much of the Performance and Image Quality back.

Going together with recommended Replacements for the respective entries in the unrealtournament.ini, I know those do help alot!...

After all, I had to get UT back working with my R9700pro as well. It's working fine, very fast OpenGL with S3TC Textures... but on the Voodoo5, it somehow looked better when it came to colors.

Nice Page with all Listed there is :
