..more updates.unfortunately, the parts from US have never arrived for reasons unknown.this does sound bad,but the additional time has been spent well.the last prototype was not able to run with another agp card in pc,this has been fixed.and more important, this is a major step in solving the v5 6k winxp problem (only one chip working when using an agp2pci under xp).so right now, additional R&D is taking place, delaying the "retail" product even further, but I say,its going to be well worth it Wink

stay tuned..

Thanx for the great news update ps47 we are all look'n forward to this project hehe. And by the looks of things, it sounds very exciting!! 8) 8) 8)

May The Force Be With Your project I really hope it's gonna be a bang for the buck also!

Maybe a AGP2PCI-Express x2/ x4 / x8/ x16 adapter could be made as the second model, so then a V56K can be used on PCI-Express mobo's also, or wouldn't that be a possibillity?

hmm nice for our GeForce and Radeon cards but not for our Voodoo AGP x2 3.3 Volt cards.

Albatron Releases PCI Express Bridge for AGP 8x Graphics Cards.

that ain't gonna work Lips Sealed
because AGP x8 is only reverse compatible with AGP x4 Universal cards with 1.5 volts that are cards  like the Voodoo4 4500 AGP 32MB the only usable card for those converters.

The Voodoo5 5000, 5500 & 6000 cards for example need to mork in AGP x2 AGP X4 universal slots that support 3.3 volt cards.

well it is cheaper than buying an entirely new card, I wasn't plannin got replace my XFX GeForce 6800GT AGP Dual DVI 256MB GDDR3 1.8ns Rev.A 3604 for like another year or so , and there may be more people that won;t do that.

So an AGP2PCI-E converter is a cheaper way to solve that problem, it's cheaper and much more sufficiant and in the most cases AGP x8 is faster than PCI-E x16, there are enough benchmarks to prove that. AGP x8 just has better support, there are still many bugs in PCI Express that's gonna take another year or 2 before that clears up and by far it's too expensive also so not that interesting for the most users.

re read my post again!

you need a low profile AGP card! 6800GT is not low profile!

yeah you just have to unsolder the VGA or DVI port  from your 6800GT Roll Eyes

think this adaptor is useless. there are good PCIe Boards out  there for just 60$

so what will the adapter cost? 30-40$? Too much!

This is the only way to get it working with new CPU. Find the server board with PCI express (66MHz), not PCIe. Then cross your fingers. The only issue that could happen is PCI IRQ routing.

KUDOS to the guys making the addapter, and stop bitching about the price. You do not like it take a bread board and wire wrap one yourself  Tongue

its just one guy Wink (not me of course,I cant even solder a broken off capacitor Tongue,I'm just lurking around and translating)

one more thing.the adaptor is NOT meant to work with any other card than 3dfx voodoo3 and voodoo5,and its only real purpose is to allow 6k users to run their behemoth of voodoo power in new motherboards.this adaptor is not an item of common use, just like the 6k.so the price might be a bit higher (certainly not $30-40).just like Hank said, stop moaning about the price,it wont help.bringing a homebrew piece of hardware to small production is not exactly cheap (and easy).and the purpose of this project IS NOT profit I would like to add,the guy is making it just for guns&glory..the price will be adequate, dont worry.nothing a 6k user (or even a 5.5k user like me) cant afford to pay Wink
