I removed my card info before it went down...but probably too late to prevent anyone from nicking the info... Undecided

(since it was hacked TWO DAYS before F0NY took the network down...idiots!) Roll Eyes

On top of that to took them nearly a WEEK AND A HALF to send out emails to their customers about the issue! Angry

Yes, it did take a while for Sony to announce the issue.

However, I have found an alternative to putting my card online with Sony to buy things.  Go to EB Games/Gamestop, etc. and buy PSN cards in store.  That's how I'll be doing it once the network is back up.

This is soooooooo old. It was announced in 23 last month. I didn't missed it too much, I only play single player on my PS3, but it was annoying to see every day : "An error has occured. You have been signed out of the PSN"

"A file left on one of Sony Online Entertainment's network servers following the recent security breach looks likely to have been left by notorious hacktivist group "Anonymous."

In a letter addressed to U.S. Congress, in which Sony was asked to respond to thirteen probing questions regarding the hacking of the PlayStation Network and SOE's network services, Sony Chairman Kaz Hirai confirmed that a file left on the server was labelled "Anonymous" and included the the group's motto "We are Legion."

Refering to a question posed about why Sony was targeted, Hirai said: "Several Sony companies had been been the target of a large-scale, coordinated denial of service attack by the group called Anonymous."

"The attack were coordinated against Sony as a protest against Sony for exercising its rights in a civil action in the United States District Court in San Francisco against a hacker."

In the letter, Sony only refers to the file being left on the SOE servers, so it's unlclear whether "Anonymous" is also behind the first attacks on the PlayStation Network

The PlayStation Network was hacked on April 18 and is still offline. This was followed by an attack on SOE's network services which have also been taken offline while more stringent security measures are put in place."

Doesn't look like it will be soon.  And probably another PS3 update to download for the updated network.

Basically F0NY are lazy S.O.B.'s who didn't secure their data properly, took TWO DAYS to inform the authorities...then tried to blame a hacking group for all their problems... Roll Eyes Tongue

FAIL! Lips Sealed

Yay!  The Network is back online.

@paul - Did you get any of the freebees that were offered to PS3 players?  I see lots jumped on the Players Plus offer.
