Booted it up...

I had to find a key for the removable H.D.D. as one wasn't included. No problem, I have a set from the old Mercury days from my wrong color (white) drive set.

When I fired it up and got the POST screen I was pleasently surprised to see a custom Quantum3D BIOS POST screen. Nice touch :)

Then it booted in with no problem SB live sound with windows login. Windows 2000. The memory is only 2 sticks of registered 128. I was going to swap it out but the 2 sticks have a Q3D sticker with their Part Number on it so I think I'll leave it alone.

I believe this machine is 100% stock and very clean. I don't think the seller blew it out with an air compressor because you can usually see residual dirt/dust from that process in other areas.

Everything is labeled from the 2D VGA and the 3D VGA in the back to the power and reset buttons in the front.

I have given you plenty of Hi-Res pics although my camera isn't so great.



So is it functional?

Not yet. I've been pretty busy this weekend. But I have tomorrow off (something about Columbus Day). I plan to give that a try...

I sure was relieved when I went into Display Properties and clicked on the Q3D tab and clicked test...

I have to admit, I saw a small black window and my heart stopped beating, then I remembered I need to move the monitor cable to the AAlchemy :P

I was jumping for joy when I saw the pink triangle spinning around ;)

Don't forget UNREAL too...if it will run? ;)

I have been messing around with it for a bit this morning but the wifey is off today too so I need to stop for now.

I did want to tell you how please I am so far with this machine. I told you before the system is extremely clean. Well I found some dust. This evidence proves to me that this machine was either used in a clean room environment or has very low hours on it. I have attached a pic you will need to expanded it to is max resolution and look at the AGP card in the area next to the CPU. There you will see dust on the AGP card from the CPU.

AAlchemy system one is up and running, system two due for testing shortly after.

AAlchemy system 2 is up and running, perfect so far.

(Both running OpenGVS demo loops)

System specs are the same- Dual P3-1000's with 256 mb of ram and a 8132SB board.

Nope, taking about the AAlchemy systems that popped up on Ebay.

Two showed up today (and work perfect), the other three will be here tomorrow. Both machines look like they have had very little use with almost no signs of wear and tear.

The only demos I have are 3 channel, I do plan on trying when I have some free time this weekend.

Maybe they have some 4 channel demos at Q3D?

For those waiting on AA systems- This weekend I'm going to start boxing up. I have had to collect the proper packing items to prevent any further damage to these rare gems.

Finger crossed that I get everything ready to go so we can figure out shipping...

Package one has been sent- For those expecting a 60 pound package please be advised that extra foam has been tucked in around the card and cpu's to help cushion any bumps and thumps during shipping.

Please remove extra foam (and any items shipped inside the case along for the ride) before attempting to start AAlchemy units!

The handles for the case were removed and are shipped inside the AA case (wrapped in bubble wrap of course) All the handles were bent in shipping and I did not wish for them to get bent further. I just hammered mine out, touched them up and reinstalled after unpacking.

The final two units are not shipped yet as we are waiting the outcome of this weekends Ebay auctions. Any winnings can be shipped to my place and shipped inside the AA units.

I'd perfer to be descrete and let the new owners decide to reveal themselves or not.

I can tell you that I still retain two of the SX systems for my own use. Page will be up (along with the TX page) when I get spare time, both have been started though,

BTW- The machines are shipped with the drives in the locked, or operating mode. For the 5 machines, only one key was sent and it was damaged in shipping.

All the Storcase Data Express use the same key so finding one on Ebay might not be hard.
