Title: Found me another Voodoo5 5500 Post by ultima on 08.04.07 at 17:28:24
Hey guys,
I was watching ebay uk for a while, looking to buy another 5500 agp, and the startbid was 15 GBP, which I put up. Auction ended today, and I won it, for 15GBP. LOL Pretty cheap if ya ask me. Shipping will be around 10 pounds, so 25 pounds in total for a good working 5500 AGP, which is what?? 40 euros at most. 15 pounds is about 22 euros, so... As soon as I received it, I'll check it out, post some benchies and let ya know about pcb numbers and such. :) See ya Ultima |

the 5500 is a very common card but it's most valuable when boxed or sealed ;)

true, but when i look at ebay.de most of the voodoos are voodoo graphics and voodoo 2... voodoo 4 and 5 become more and more "rare" at ebay.de at least...

true but on ebay.com the most common ebay site as ebay.com.au as ebay.nl the Voodoo5 is very common, ebay.de isn't the only ebay in the world ;)
It is wise to look on all ebay's to find what you need to seek and there are other ways besides ebay too :) here are the 5500's I found on ebay.de this is missing the C106 Capacitor http://cgi.ebay.de/ORIGINAL-3DFX-VOODOO-5-5500-AGP-sehr-rar_W0QQitemZ160101729138QQcategoryZ21889QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem you're right that 5500's are rare on ebay.de but if you look on other ebay's :) ebay.com.au [Australian ebay] 5500 AGP mousepad from 3M: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/3DFX-VOODOO-PRECISE-MOUSE-SURFACE-PAD-RARE-VINTAGE_W0QQitemZ320100874010QQcategoryZ40157QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ebay.com [American ebay] 5500 AGP: http://cgi.ebay.com/3DFX-Voodoo-5-5500-AGP-VIDEO-CARD_W0QQitemZ140104310678QQihZ004QQcategoryZ40157QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem 5500 PCI these would be the rarest 5500's for now: http://cgi.ebay.com/3dfx-vodoo-5-64mg-Video-Card_W0QQitemZ150108872513QQihZ005QQcategoryZ3762QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ebay.co.uk [English ebay] 5500 PCI: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3dfx-Voodoo5-5500-PCI-64MB-card_W0QQitemZ250102872095QQcategoryZ3762QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem that's about it for now hehe but yeah they are getting rare, it would end one day since that there still are new collectors joining the 3dfx race for glory 8) |

Found this perculier card on ebay.fr:
http://cgi.ebay.fr/Carte-graphique-Voodoo-3-2000-PCI-3dfx_W0QQitemZ120105183900QQcategoryZ93227QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem he says it's a voodoo3 2000, but looks like it has sgram, anyone know what card that is?? |
Title: Re: Found me another Voodoo5 5500 Post by Obi-Wan_Kenobi on 08.04.07 at 22:53:24
it's a Voodoo3 2000 PCI with SGRAM from 1999 the ones from year 2000 have an Aluminium coloured heatsink the ones from 1999 have a black one :)
the SGRAM models have better memory latencies than the older SDRAM models, it's just a remake of the Voodoo3 PCI series. there are 3000 PCI's with SGRAM as well but they behold the same Aluminium coloured heatsinks like their AGP variants. |

Thing is, I love 3DFX cards, but I have nothing for still sealed boxes.
In my opinion, to me, they are very expensive to buy, and to keep their value, I don't get to use them...... I'd much rather have either just the card, or with box, which I could put on display, but without the card in it, so..... For me, it's a great buy, and I'll have an extra card for my collection. I like to have 2 of every card. :) Just takes a while to get there. |

exactly ;) @TM30 US to the Netherlands is cheap as well, as it does depend on what you'd like to pay for the Postal services ofcourse. United States Postal Service Express Mail is the way I prefer it alot cheaper than uhm Fed-Ex ::) and another thing ultima does not live in Germany ::) He's a dutchman like me, there are alot more countries in the European Union than only Germany lol ::) But If I would ship some cards to the US it's also alot more expensive than from USA to Europe Do keep in mind we have to pay Euro's to ship stuff the Americans only have US Dollars which are alot cheaper in curancy than Euro's 1 Euro = 1,32 US Dollars. @ ultima btw the UK is also a very good option to look for 5500's otherwise track forum sales plenty of them going on once in a while |

That's right!
Our dollar is weak compared to Euro making it a better deal to buy from the U.S. |

Paypal and eBay are a great thing. I have purchased and sold many great voodoo cards over the years. If it weren't for ebay, I would have only owned a Diamond Monster Voodoo Graphics, a Voodoo3 2000 AGP and a Voodoo5 5500 AGP.
I don't think I could list all the Voodoo card I have bought off of eBay ;D |

I also had another look at my 2 voodoo 2's to find out what brand they are, since they didn't show that too much.
1 I found through the archive, is a Guillemot Maxi Gamer 3D2 12MB. The other one is of more interest, it is a 3DFX reference board, with mixed ram chips. It has 8 ram chips marked 90Mhz and 4 ram chips marked 100Mhz. The only thing that looks like a pcb date is the following line: 600-0027-02-B. But if that's true, then this pcb is from the 27th week of 2000, kinda late for a voodoo2 if ya ask me. Will post pics |

Yeah,
I remember that with the last PCI version I was overbid at the last moment, but this time I won it. :) Item was shipped yesterday, so should receive it shortly. Why would you need 3 pci versions btw?? |
