That's a later Hint chip model and it comes with the Voodoo Volts power supply.  I wonder how ambitious the seller is being since it hasn't reached its reserve!  Certainly the "buy it now" price suggests a high reserve.

I think, over the months to come, the Voodoo5 6000 is going to get cheaper.  But at some point in the more distant future the price will probably rise again as 3dfx and their products are seen for the classics they are.

But I don't think anyone should buy a V5 6k as an investment.  They should only buy it to use it!  ;D

The seller seems to be right about the model (3700 series).  It certainly seems to match the later cards you can see here-

If it is working then perhaps he's right to go all out for a top price.  But I'm not going to be able to afford one if they keep going for thousands of dollars!

I think they were just grabbed by 3dfx employees when the company was sold off.  They hadn't gone into production so these are all pre-production samples.  They are probably near to production standard by the final revisions.  But the drivers are very under-developed and throttle the performance.  But, even so, as can be seen by the benchmarks on Logical Madness' site they are still fast cards.

You're right that it's encouraging that the demand has fallen off.  With the arrival of the Radeon 9700 I expect it will drop even more.  The prices should fall, eventually.  :)

Here's another late model 6k with the Hint chip-

Already quite expensive but it's reported as working and people don't seem to have much luck repairing the non-working examples from what I've read.

Hmm...

Too bad the prices are really at 'beyond believe'-Levels :P

...and another one...

The description is wrong apparently.  V MAN denies testing this particular card (although he did test several of Clay's cards and found them to be working).

I will own one when everyone else has lost interest (about 2024 I reckon.  Most wrist watches will have more graphics processing power by then. ;))!
