Iv'e noticed that 3dfx always used 3-pin fans on their cards, but i can't find info about the third pin anywhere.

If anyone has any idea what it does, lemmi know.

Well it *should* be for fan rpm as all fans I have seen with 3 wires that is what the 3rd wire is for.

IMHO, this has no function.

But since it costs money to physically have an unneeded 3rd Connector and wiring removed from a stock product (which by default has it) designed to be sold in masses to contractors, they just left it 'as is' I guess.

could be, but there might be some kind of a register or a fully active sensor on board that no one knows of [except the 3dfx engineers, i suppose] that can be enabled by a few bios hacks here and there..

But then again, i can be chasing a dead horse here..
