Title: Ordered new motherboards
Post by sb306 on 23.03.09 at 00:43:38
Or should I say used. I bought a pair of Epox 8KHA+ motherboards for $16 shipped. Im buying them as is. The seller couldnt test them with a processor, but said they both had a c1 post error on boot(I believe its a memory error) So Im thinking they might both work.

It looks like Ill be able to use either a pci or a agp 5500 card depending on what I have. the only thing Im worried about is the agp voltage. But hopefully everything will work out.   :)

Well, the boards showed up today and looked perfect. I installed 1 of them in my tower and it would power up, but no screen no boot with a ff(fully functioning) code. I swapped cpus and then it booted up but went to the c1 memory code that I was expecting. I swapped memory sticks in every slot, putting single sticks on the board to no avail.

So on to the next board. Same exact setup, no boot no video, with a ff(fully functioning) code. Swapping cpus didnt do anything. No memory gave the same result, as did no video card etc etc.

Then I pulled out a sdram mobo and tried that one with my cpus. Now, IT doesnt boot. aarrgghh. So now Im to the point that I really dont know what is working and what isnt. Im not sure if my memory sticks are good, or my processors, much less the motherboards.

Im starting to think that when my prior board died, that the cpu and/or the memory died with it.

Next step is going to be to get another stick of ram and see what happens. I guess Ill have to use process of elimination.

Ok. Im done venting   :(

Hi

Have you check the caps ?

Functionality symptoms:

Motherboard fails to POST.
Memory Test Fails.
System randomly and/or constantly reboots itself.
Fails to fully boot (or even install) Operating System.
System randomly and frequently freezes.
Random & frequent 'Blue Screens of Death'
BSoD or hard freeze under heavy drive activity (Either RAID, SCSI, or standard ATA)
CPU temps abnormally higher than usual under typical or less load.
*CPU VCORE & other system voltages are erratic or far out of tolerances.
Resetting the system after a freeze and the system will not repost.
(You have to completely power down then power back up.)

Visually, they all look good. The boards are like new. I just ordered a new memory stick and cpu. So hopefully that will give me another chance to see what the problem is.    :-?
