Title: Are these people for real?
Post by Quaker763 on 12.10.14 at 08:41:12
Seriously, some of the s**t I see on eBay (especially Aus eBay) is just ridiculous. Case in point:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2x-3DFX-Voodoo2-1000-video-cards-12MB-PCI-SLI-capable-/251668907822?pt=AU_Computers_Vintage&hash=item3a98a2c72e

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Diamond-Monster-3D-II-8MB-PCI-3dfx-Voodoo2-/201192234242?pt=AU_Computers_Vintage&hash=item2ed7fddd02

Now I'm not a price expert when it comes to cards, but wow... Surely that's way too much to ask for.

My god is it hard collecting in Australia...   :-/

We've seen more crazy prices in the past... ::)

Someone asked $200 for a single Voodoo 2 once. :o

He didn't get it...the plot I mean...LOL! ;D

That's not ridiculous at all, that's "normal" price for ebay, I expected a lot more.

Check this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MINT-3dfx-Voodoo-4-Voodoo4-4500-PCI-FOR-MAC-32MB-Videocard-in-MINT-Box-RARE-/311121864403?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item48704ee6d3

Sure, it's not a very common card, and it's boxed, but 1300 USD... Now that's ridiculous.

How about this one?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VOODOO-5500-BRAND-NEW-IN-ORIGINAL-STATIC-BAG-WITH-3DFX-STICKER-ON-FANS-/291265169284?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item43d0c1c784

V5 5500 AGP, nothing special - 500 USD.

And one last example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/AGP-card-3dfx-210-0364-003-Dell-Voodoo-3-1-10-STB-VGA-0009232R1312199T2P8F-A00-/200995426817?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ecc42d201

121 USD for the most common 3dfx card, now that's an insult.

Unfortunately some people are very greedy and they think they will find a fool, most of them probably never know what 3dfx was, they only know that it's "vintage", "rare" and *expensive".

Those prices aren't really a problem, they won't sell the cards to anyone (except maybe a very rich collector that's just starting to collect and has a lot of money to spend and no cards in the collection yet).

The problem is that by asking those prices they will encourage other people to ask the same, it happened to me here, people asking huge prices on really common 3dfx cards because they see they "worth" a lot of money on ebay.

Wow, and I thought Australian eBay prices were bad... What some people ask for is just ludicrous!

In our country we have a "saying", a rough translation would be: "The one who ask it's not stupid, the stupid one is that who gives".

So a seller can ask any price, if he finds a buyer that is willing to pay the price then it's great for the seller. If not... he can keep asking the price, but if he wants to sell what he have... you get the ideea.
