16.07.05 at 19:25:18

I have a Voodoo3 2000 and I thinking In overclocking him but I have some question.
Is best to update the BIOS or is best keep it?
Itīs only posible overclock it using software or I can make some changes in the hardware?
What is the fastest speed I can reach?
What are a good temperature for the card?

And a question for all these fans of the 3dfx cards, these cards with 3 fans or other extrange thinks these are cards made by 3dfx or are there mods mades by yours?

1. buy some good coolers
2. OC with normal software
3. you can use a v3 3000 bios...this brings you the 166mhz and sometimes 1 frame more...don't know why! but you have to reach 166mhz with your card in order to flash this bios!
4. you can do a vmod! but i cannot find the homepage with the guide! will search!

Just make sure you can successfully OC to 166 before you flash to the Voodoo3 3000 BIOS.

Personal, I would just use the Voodoo3 overclock utility Wink

i dont undertand german but the english file i think its single, itīs only need to take care, but if I change the Voltage, can it damage the motherboard? my board has a AGP1x the voltage is the same if it is AGP2x or PCI because I donīt know many things about hardare I donīt know if I can do this change.
And what about the Sli? what means it?

183 Mhz core/mem should be possible with ease, my V3 3K AGP from Power Color reached 200Mhz Core/Mem Smiley okay it has 5ns SDRAM hehe that helps alot I must say.

but the most V3 2K AGP's can do 183 a' 191 Mhz core/mem without probs.

another question. Do you think that a ZALMAN ZM80A-HP could be a good way to cooling the voodoo3 2000 and can I use it on it? or itīs best to use a fancooler?

To be honest, Rarok, it would be a waste of your time.  It would mean drilling your own holes into the card which is highly unrecommended!

Using a cooler such as this, will not get you the significant increase in performance as it would from a standard yet deeper heatsink with a fan attached on the end of it.

Try this as it should be more suitable than the current ZALMAN product you have been looking at.

http://www.overclock.co.uk/customer/product.php?productid=18549

OR

Have a look at Vantec's general purpose fan cooler.  This will sit in the slot next to your graphics card, blowing cool air onto the front of it.

http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/vauvspfanca.html

A useful cooler than can be used to cool nearly any graphics card.  You don't have to worry about compatability.

No holes required!  Smiley
