Title: v3500 webtv/ other things than Visual Reality?
Post by Raven on 30.06.03 at 00:20:07
Hello 3dfx fans.

I have a problem with the installation of Visual Reality.
For installation it needs webtv for windows. The problem is that i'm from Germany and this webtv exists only in the english version of windows 98. Is there any source where i can download webtv? There is nothing on the micrsoft sites.

And now another question:
The voodoo3 3500 uses the VPX3225D Chip for the the TV screen. It is an Video Pixel Decoder. And the MSP 3415D for the sound (Multi standard Sound Processor).
Thse two cips are fro Micronas. But they only produce the chips, there is no software to download...
(or i was to blind to find it...)

The Bt848 (or so) Chip on the backside is for the tv out. it has nothing to do with the tv tuner.

There is another video card the uses the same chips. It is the ELSA ERAZOR III PRO ViVo 32MB RIVA TNT2.

So is there any software than Visual Reality that supports the v3 3500 fully?

Thanks for the support! You do great work here!!!!
(this had been nvidias task)

Hmm...

As far as I know, the WebTV (for US Standard Windows System) is contained in the Windows Distribution itself, and is not available for Download (I reckon it would not work).

Looks like you downloaded a wrong version of VR ?
(try one that is based on the VfW / Video for Windows Standard).

I've heard several times, that there used to be at least one alternative TV Application, but I don't find the Link.
As far as I remember, it was hosted by Soundforge.
A search in Google (search in both Websites and NewsGroups) might turn it up.

Problem is, that I (also German ;) ) did not use my V3-3500/TV in a long time, so I am not 100.0% sure about the potential Problems anymore (getting old :P ).

I could check the Driver/VR Versions contained on my Installation CD though, that might help sorting this out :)

And yes, NVidia should have supported the assets they purchased, but I'm afraid this was never their intention in the first place :P

Just like i thought
Where can i get the VfW / Video for Windows Standard based version? The one i have is from your page...
VR-3.10.06

I have found a program that supports the 3500 ;D
Sagebrush TVactive.
The good thing on it is that you can download it for free. The bad thig is that it looks as basic as it is.

By the way: What graphics card are you using at the moment? I am just curious ;).

PS: Is anyone here who knows how to get dosglide games running on a voodoo3. The most part just
notifies that i have no voodoo graphics (v1)...

When it comes to DOS Glide Games, there are a few great Sites in the Links Section.

The modern Voodoo's all have compatibility settings (also as DOS Variables), that allow to pretent to be a Voodoo1, or limit other parameters to get close.

Very old DOS Games also were "hard-programmed" for Voodoo1 only, and will look for specific Filenames not in use anymore by Voodoo3/4/5. Renaming and copying the matching Files into the Game Directory usually helped me in the Past (since after all, the Files mostly are compatible, they're just in the 'wrong location' or have the 'wrong Filename' )

Definately try Dscaler. I'm using the voodoo TV 200 PCI, it's the best and most stable program yet.
