Title: Voodoo 2 vertical lines Post by cobra30689 on 22.12.06 at 05:01:31
Got a question for all you V2 gurus....I inherited a V2 from my g/f's dad...built a machine to play all my old games(600 P3,192MB RAM,440BX chipset,Vanta LT 2D card looped through a V2,Win98SE). Roughly 6 or so minutes into playing a game, six identically spaced vertical lines form in the raster that can be seen anywhere there is a light shade rendered. I heard somewhere that it could be a heat related issue, as they only go away once the machine has been off for awhile. Any ideas?

Try a case fan over the boards to see if the problem goes away?

Or try to get any memory cooling kit's from a local store, since it looks like memory issue. You could also get a cooling for the GPUs but they aren't the main problem.

Yah, it sounds like cooling! ::)
Voodoo 2's are notorious for overheating (at least early production models - later ones aren't as bad) ;) Get some heatsinks / ramsinks and your problems should go away. :D May also need a large 'quiet' fan over the cards (or a blower for sideways airflow - your choice) :) |
