You make any levels with the Mission Builder?
I made a few.
In the mission builder contest, I won "Descent to Undermountain" Didn't care much for that game but was thrilled to have won something in the contest
No I never done that really, I'm still stunned on what the game still is, the story in is also very good, imho
I got the Vertigo ones know too, I downloaded them from an opensource site, since that the Descent 1 & 2 engine are now opensurce, it was free to download
So now my Descent Collection is alittle more complete.
Now I finally know what the Vertigo missions was about, when Matarial Defender Mil1032 had his acident with is hyper drive, Dravis said that contact with him was impossible to his new employee, well I'm in level 6 now , and I wonder if this new employee will try and contact help to find Matreial Defender Mil 1032
There are even great novels on the Descent story, I hope that one there will be a movie of this great saga. I wonder what the story line of Descent IV Invasion would of been, so sad that it was canceled
here some pics of Descent IV Invasion that I found:
The Blue Key:
The Yellow Key:
The Red Key:
The Full Map bonus card:
The PyroSX MK II:
and the most beautifull PyroGX I've ever seen, yes it was planned for use in Descent IV Invasion, the god ol heavy Attack craft, the PyroGX MK4:
and here the Afterburner view:
I use that PyroGX in Descent 3 now
even with the Descent2 weapon mod
I mean Descent IV Invasion would have been the perfect game to come next, here it's features
* Development Engine o Crystal Space
o DIVE level editor a.k.a. D4Edit
o Descent 3 -> Descent IV level converter
o Supports extreme MOD-ability
+ D4Edit: The Ultra all-in-wonder tool for changing and editing ANYTHING for use in "D4."
+ Support for more genres. In "D4," you'll have the capability to make a racing game, etc.
* Gameplay Modes o Single Player
+ Storyline is in two major divisions. Early on it covers a few events directly after D3 but only for the first few levels. Afterwards it focuses on the main game that takes place two years later.
+ 30+ Levels
+ Robots from Descent I, II, and 3
o Multiplayer
+ Anarchy
+ Assault
+ Capture and Hold
+ Capture The Flag
+ Cooperative
+ Defend and Destroy
+ Domination
+ Hyper-Anarchy
+ InstaReap
+ Monsterball
o Aims to have gameplay similar to Descent I and II
* Weapons o All of the weapons from Descent I, II, and 3 except the Blackshark and EMD. Super lasers will be like D2's.
o Possible new weapons
+ Phase Missiles - fancy homing class weapon that conceptually can fade in and out of existence, allowing it to fly through doors, windows, and thin walls. In a thick wall, it would fade into reality inside the wall and explode. If we get geomodding working right, it could even blow a wall out.
+ Beam Rifle
+ Havoc rockets
+ EMP Cannon
+ Pin Gun
o Only certain weapons will be usable by each ship
o Special weapon load-outs for each ship. Over 30 weapons in the game, but a maximum of 20 on any ship. (10 primary, 10 secondary + countermeasures)
* Powerups o Red, blue, and yellow keys
o Ammo rack
o Full map
* Countermeasures o No bouncing betties.
* Ships o Pyro GX (another render), Pyro SE, Pyro NX, Gravix, Tigg-SB and Aggressor Prime
* Platforms o Windows
o Mac
o Linux
o Possibly OpenBSD
+ Other *.nix flavors
* Video Compatibility o No Glide support due to two reasons:
+ The engine is too advanced for Glide. The game's FPS would die on a Voodoo
+ The engine no longer supports Glide so the design team would have to code it in from scratch
* Release Method o Combined single-player and multiplayer demo will be released for a possible public BETA
* Miscellaneous o Cut scenes and movies will be high quality and can span up to 1600x600 @ 32 bit color if needed.
o New soundtracks by Audiocat, Spydre and Copperhand
o Sound effects by Agent4054 and Narfig
o Ships will have both shield and armor
o Possibility of changing ships in-game. Such as jumping out of your ship and walking or using a jetpack to go to the nearest hangar (with a different ship)
o Not just mines, outer-space is a planned possibility
I mean why cancel something so well setup, really that troubled me for eons.
And here's a great site
http://www.planetdescent.com/descent32/they are gonna reprogram Descent 1 +2 with new realtime graphics for OpenGL and D3D
pitty that there's no Glide section added , oh well it sounds pretty nice for so far:
TO-DO LIST
--------------
Here are the things that we will be working on:
-Cleaning up the source code and making it more easily modifiable
-Getting rid of DOS specific code
-Making the code fully DirectX compatible (sounds, networking)
-Implementing a full 3D accelarated renderer (both D3D and OGL)
-Creating brand new effects (fog, particles, etc.)
-Improving the game media
