Title: 3dfx Commercials/Advertisement. Post by rottentreats on 13.02.10 at 16:01:22
Watching a few of the commercials linked here and on YouTube hurt my eyes. (poooor quality) So, with that being said, I did a little work and now there are a few in 720p. I was only able to find "Proud Workers" and "Medicine" in a format that I could upconvert.
135MB - Download Feel free to use this thread to post other 3dfx advertisements. There sure are a lot of them. :) |

Wow, that's great quality, thanks so much.
Have a word with Gary, he might have them in the original format. I think he sent it to me once on CD, along with the 3dfx interviews. I might be imagining things though. I'm not at home at the moment, so I can't look, sorry. |

I've always wondered, what did they mean by "100bln OP / sec"?

1 bilion operations per second = 1 gigahertz.

I know, but 3dfx didn't make any 1GHz chips ;) So how should we interpret this? |

Check the tech specs in this review : http://www.guru3d.com/review/3dfx/voodoo3_3000/index.html
It says there : 3D Features: 100 billion operations per second. It doesn't have anything to do with clock rate, it's like a CPU - it can perform 100 billion operations (add, multiply and stuff like that) in a second. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instructions_per_second - here you have it explained for CPUs. |

RaverX explained it to you well. 100 billion operations per second is the bigger number of instructions that can be performed for a task when needed in one second. Clock rate is the speed at wich all this stuff can be executed and finished (cycle).
