add active cooling,flash the 3k BIOS,thats all.I would recommend normal overclocking thoug..

Active cooling is with a fan indeed. A fan turns 'active'. Passive cooling (nothing really happens) is only an heatsink :).

okay ill do that. now can i stick these files on a floppy and boot It? i got the 3dfx Flasher and a Voodoo 3 3k BIOS rom image from the 3dfx BIOS and Utilities website.

I used a 486 cpu fan on the stock 3dfx heatsink and it worked fine.
But why not just overclock it with the overclocker utility? It's much safer ;) |

Do yourself a favor and test it with the OC utility first to make sure it functions okay @166MHz before you flash it ;)

Okay, Iv'e Tried it up to 195 Mhz without a fan. probably not a good idea. ill install one shortly

Sorry about getting off topic there. anyway how would i go about flashing this thing? i tried putting the files on a floppy and booting from it but no such luck.

Put the files on a seperate floppy, use the boot floppy to boot and the second floppy to flash.
Have you flashed a BIOS on a motherboard before? It's similar but a bit trickier ;) |

Yes i have flashed my Compaq BIOS. Does It Mateer if The Voodoo Card is and OEM? mines and STB Sytems.
