Title: Any 3Dfx PCB layout available?
Post by EMPEROR on 12.07.13 at 00:34:40
Just was curious if any 3Dfx PCB layout is available anywhere? Eventually V5 6000 would be best, but I know it's a loooooong long shot... but still, anyone knows anything about the subject?  8-)

To make it short, no :(

Reverse engineering would be the way to go.

I kinda hoped as there are engineering sample boards available, that some x-3dfx employee "let loose" some PCB layouts too... :) And I hope somebody somewhere still has those...

Possible is everything :) But main problem could be Nvidia here, those files all belong to them.

I guess this also applies for all the prototypes, but still they are out for sale. Hopefully we'll get the PCB layouts sooner or later... then I'm sure trays with VSA100 chips will vanish into thin air :D

Why bother? There are tons of working boards around unless you are trying to build a V5-6000 and I think it would be very long odds that you would ever get one working.

Not to mention the cost of all the parts, it would be cheaper to buy one outright.

There are not many V5 6000 for sale, at least I haven't seen for a while. And building one wouldn't be that expensive, especially if the PCB is done in x0-x00 quantities, at least I know the right people for that. And even if nothing happens, still it would be great (at least to me) to have the PCB layout in my possession, same as you with V5 6000 or Rampage or any other prototype...
