Title: yjfy.com
Post by Tim on 12.01.09 at 00:58:08
I've been using that site for a very long time now, but I actually never understood if it was one person's collection or a forum of collectors?

I must say they have got some great hardware, some of them very rare.

I've used it frequently to look up info or pictures of a certain card, some of them I've only seen once on the net.

To my knowledge, he/she is one person and has a list posted here;

If that's one person, that's beyond insane. That's a crazy collection. He must have spend a great deal of money on it. The 3DFX part dwarfs compared to all the other hardware.

Indeed, I've got about 130 cards, and I've spend in excess of £2000 if you take into account all the shipping cost. How much has this cost him seriously.  :o

A question I don't like to think about myself, I gave up long ago when the number went over $10,000 US

as long as I have fun,I don't really care how much money I spend..I would have spent it on something anyway, and hey, prehistoric hardware seems like a way better investment than junkfood and booze 8-)

Over 10 grand, wow!  :)

Even with getting cards for free etc. Must be all those V6K's and Mercury's that make up the bulk of the money.

4) How much do you have invested?

Not as much as you think, a large number of the common cards were given to me outright for free, others were obtained from Ebay for as little as $1 plus shipping.

I wholeheartedly agree with that.

Not as many free cards as I'd like!

Looking at a spreedsheet I last updated in 2005, I was over $13,340 for 3dfx boards/items and shipping.

As someone else stated, money that would have been spent on some other hobby, I have no regrets. If your going to do something, no sense going halfs on it.

It has been interesting and fun... when I obtain the last card I'm looking for I will be sad.

Time to open my 3dfx museum ;-)

yjfy.com is indeed a personal collection, and bbs.yjfy is a forum of collectors.
The quatity of the CARDs he collected is so huge that he had to rent a  warehouse to storage them. ;)

good thing he doesn't suffer much from moisture like I do in malaysia,
I have to constantly replace moisture absorbant frequently
and even invested in a "dehumidifier" in order to keep things from rusting or change in color

I haven't had much luck preserving boxes that are colored white :-(, one of the reason why i decided to quit collecting as well
