Title: SFFT Driver finished
Post by SuperFurryFurryThing on 10.04.08 at 22:09:10
The development of the SFFT driver is now complete with the Alpha 59. This is available for download at 3dfxzone.it. The driver is now finished. The D3D core has been developed to support access to all of the cards features via the DX7/8 and DX9 interfaces. The Glide shipped is a separate Glide2x and Glide3x implementation, that has a number of bugs fixed. There is no list of games fixed as people have been unwilling or unable to test a wide range of games against the driver, so it is unknown how many games run against the lastest driver. The driver has been testes on Win2K/XP and Xp x64. It has not been tested under Vista so it is not known whether it works on Vista 32. The driver has a large number of D3D problems fixed and supports later DX features which can be implemented by the card such as support for DirectX runtime T&L, and texture management.
Please feel free to try the driver.

some info has been added to the game guide already.I'm planning another big update soon, but I need to build a new test system (got rid of the old duron based one a while ago, testing on such a slow machine was giving me headaches.should be WAY better with an athlon64 3200+) and I'm still one psu short (delivery is scheduled for tomorrow, hmm).

so list of fixed games will be coming, sooner or later.

I think I'll take a look at that SLI issue that is supposed to be haunting the latest releases first..then I'll have to determine what release is the best for all purpose use,and after that I plan to play a bit with individual games..anyway,just like I said at 3dfxzone,great job and many thanks for all the great work you have done :)

The only driver that requires testing to build up a compatibility list is the last one. It is the final most capable and definitive version. All testing should be on the last version. Don't waste effort on other versions.

I second that!!!  Even some kind of Glide2/D3D wrapper that makes calls to glide 3.x would be helpful.

All the previous release makes the game unplayable
