Is 3DHQ no more?
08.08.04 at 07:50:02

Is 3DHQ no more? Just curious. I really wouldn't be suprised if they were considering how old these cards are now.

I just started using the 1.09 Beta10 driver instead of the 1.04.01 Beta and I noticed the desktop gamma slider is missing. It is mentioned the the readme as 'I'll get to that soon', but I haven't seen a newer version. Oh well. That's what you get when your running a 5 year old computer part and the manufacturer is long gone! lol The silder is present for 3D modes (DX and OpenGL) so that's all that really matters anyway.

Thanks for your help,

DrCR

In their dreams... yes.
In reality... nope Wink

3dHQ turned out as a big soap opera, and today we know only Colorless and Koolsmoky were the only ones able to provide anything fresh at that time. Everyone else was just.... well... let's call it an overdose of PR, that eventually got catched by reality.

I read some of the details on later posts... frankly by page 16 I smelled something rather bad.

Video card chip design is a expensive and time consuming task, 4 people are the whole design team?

lol, you really had to be there to get the full feeling, the revenge episode was too bad because (3dhq) it was one of the few forums at the time where you could talk about 3dfx stuff and not be told to get a ati or nvidia card all the time, plus i think there was a good 3dfx fan base there, but everyone jumped on that revenge band wagon which i really found odd because i didnt see how it was a problem for people in other forums, i think if anything else came from revenge it was how out of one's way people will go to put other's in there place, it was sorta fun to hear about revenge even though you 90% were sure it would never happen, i figured it was
some young people who got all excited about an idea and got carried away, really no big deal i thought,,,,, well anyways that was my take on the whole deal Kiss

welp after talking with someone who new alittle(prob lot) more than me about the behind the scene, i can see how they could have pissed off some people Undecided

Wow, interesting. Didn't know about this whole 'soap opera'.  Grin

I was just looking for a newer driver than 1.09 Beta10 and I couldn't find their homepage.

Will the Raziel64 V1.00.09 hamper my Gilde playing?

Right now I know have the V5 in my machine, but I bought it to play Independence War and I don't want to loose this aspect. I presume it is not an issue.

Thanks for the help!

Well, the Linux 60Hz problem could be as far away as 'simply' modifying the respective Monitor or Display setting, so it might not be the Driver at all.

(although those settings might be somewhat hidden, and you'll need to tell Linux the correct or at least a compatible Monitor type)

Yeah. I'll be starting a thread on it at www.linuxforums.org (an awesome forum by the way!), so hopefully I get it taken care of then. Hey, at least it's working at all.  8)
