Combatman Junior Member Offline If it works...use it Posts: 71	ati rage 128 driver issues 18.01.07 at 02:17:18 I played halo on this card using the windows 98 drivers. Now that I have xp and the xp driver halo dosnt work. What gives???

(except maybe 3Dfx cards - LOL!)

That's as new as it gets for the ATI Rage I'm afraid. Not sure if there were ever 3rd party Drivers for the ATI Rage.

A far shot, but sometimes big Notebook manufacturers get updated drivers for their business Notebooks long after the official support for regular customers is discontinued. Chances are, there 'might' be some more recent Rage Drivers in some Notebook Driver package, you'll have to search them.

Strange how it has 32mb memory ,enough to play halo and the old driver had the capability. The error message displayed in halo says your driver has known issues with the game. Odd how the 98 driver capability didnt transfer over to the xp one they developed

It is not unusual for Legacy Hardware to get only "Desktop and basic 3D" Drivers for later OS'es.

By the time WinXP was released, Driver development for the already ageing Rage 128 series was long finished.

WinXP is not a good choice if you want to retain legacy Hardware.
I've never understood why people are installing it on older Hardware (which usually means nothing but trouble)

It's like driving an oldtimer to a regular Gas station and demanding a set of original new tires. It just does not work...
