I'm browsing the original Driver CD right now...
( Orchid Righteous 3D Retail, V3.00B, Jan 1998 ) The entire CD is holding 228MB in Total. Do you require any special Part of it, or the entire CD ? |

That's fine- I have an Orchid card and I wish to run it with the "correct" drivers on the retro box I'm building. That way it will actually have the Orchid logos and such in the control panel. Any place I can download it zipped up? Might take a while, I'm on a modem. Gary |

Beware that I can't give away the original of course (basically a resource for the 3dfx Archive, and part of my Retail Card Box in the Hardware Collection), but I could certainly send you a copy of it.
If you're just looking for a part of it (e.g. original Driver), we can create a Temporary Download for you :) |

This is 3.0MB of driver files. And you do need it. ;)
The last 3dfx reference drivers don't work with this card, I can assure you of this as I bought this card when it was first released and own one now also. You may be able to swap out certain dll's but you'll still need certain files from the orchid drivers. The drivers are 2.8MB compressed, I may be able to temporarily host them for you or one of the other users may be able to send them to you. I did know precisely which files were required but can't remember which now. I think I used to install the Orchid drivers, then update the driver to the 3dfx reference driver without overwriting older files. I then worked out which files were to blame but can't remember which now. Quote:

Not true- I just tested one 2 days ago with reference drivers. |

Some editing here- I picked up some Orchid drivers tonight and installed, my original card works fine, the second card is dead as a doornail. That's why it doesn't work =( I thought something was odd since the V1 cards don't have a bios. |

I purchased one brand new- Still have the box, driver and instructions! Need a copy of the disc? Yes, I like the hard to find stuff, just missed an Evil King 4 with TV but some individual bid it up to 50 Euros!!!! A HI-Score V2 with TV would be cool too, and I'm looking for one of the 8 meg Mac V1 cards. |

Hum, well I guess you learn something new EVERY day! ::)
I didn't know that the Orchid Righteous 3D has RELAYS on it! :o Kewl - I like 'clicky' relays! ;D Why can't MORE things go 'clicky-clack' when they're being used? ??? SWEET! 8) |

They early ones did, people use to be worried they would wear out. How foolish that line of thought seems now almost 8 years later ;-) Of course back then a V1 was $300 in 1996-1997 funds. |

Mine is still clicking... ;)
Interestinfg that you got it working with reference drivers I've always had to install the Orchid drivers and then install the reference drivers without overwriting older files (or something like that), otherwise it simply won't work. I think it's something to with the fxmemmap virtual device driver or the righteous 3D control panel or both... :-/ |
