Title: Collector's Meeting Results...
Post by FalconFly on 22.05.04 at 17:55:40
...was : Impressive collection on eBay

Some may remember seeing this image (09 Feb 2004) :

Since I had Patience here as a Guest for a while, we used the opportunity to take some Images ;)
Some already knew where this Auction went, but only if they looked into the right spots.
...thus this News Posting.

Today, on 22 May 2004, the Impressive Collection had lost nothing of its exclusive flair :

I took several shots with a (moderate) DigiCam, while Patience used a conventional (High Quality) Camera.

Since the Images would be too much to directly link inside the Forum, I linked them as Files :
(right-click to Save As or click to view)

Notes : Image Resolution and Quality is variable, and some naturally are very similar to each other, as they are unprocessed raw Imagery taken just two hours ago.
This was the last time this Collection was assembled together as one.

No, they are not for sale; the Collecton has been split between its owners, and the Parts have now moved to the Owner's respective Countries.

Sorry for the ignorance Patience.  Nice collection love. ;)

Nice collection love

In this context 'love' is the colloquial geordie term for 'miss' (note to Jan - it's actually spelt 'luv' in geordie!) ::)

For more geordie stuff go to... ;)

Hi,

I would like to know the distribution between Patience and you. (prototype, Quantum3D, v5 6k...)

Regards,
Oscar

Title: Re: Collector's Meeting Results...
Post by FalconFly on 26.05.04 at 18:42:40
Hm, basically you could sort it in halfs :

Left = me
Right = Patience
(the 2 V5-6k's are the separating line more or less)

1 v4 4500 DVI + TV-OUT

To Patience:
1 v5 6k 4x1 Rev3700
1 v4 4500 Beta
1 v3 3500 mem5ns

Wonderful Card :D

¿Have you tried the v4 4500 Beta? Is it functional?

p.d. I think that your v5 6k need the PCI REWORKS and the HOOKUP... Have you spoken with Hank Semenc?

Oscar

@Patience - Just to let you know that it's actually SAFER to MOD the V5 6000 to run from an internal PSU. ;)

Why? ???

Because when using Voodoo volts you have TWO different ground and power sources - this in itself is intrinsically unsafe. :o

(sure it WORKS, but internal power is more stable and safer...) ::)

There is also the V5 6000 user group page, which gives directions on how to do the power MOD - but the page moved recently (can't remember the new address...) ???

Well that's what I say anyhow... :P

WOW! Great pics! I'm glad to see they went to good homes! It took years to put the collection together. By the way, the 4500 prototype not only DOES work but works well - or at least it did when I got it. If I remember correctly though, the heatsink does not make good contact with the chip but it may have been fixed by now. The cards actually never required them anyway.

I'm with you Patience in that I prefer to use the external PS with the 6k however if you ever change your mind, I have some of the lugs that are used to attach the wires if you need them.

FYI - I'll probably be putting a prototype Rev-A0 VoodooTV 200 on ebay within the next few days...in case you are interested.  ;)  I'll post a link in the ebay deals thread when I do.

Yeah, the copper colored board. That board has extra resistors and other stuff soldered all over it, does it not? It also has the Stealth-V cooler fan. They were evaluating the fans for OEM use but there were constant problems with the power connectors if I remember correctly. The card was clocked so slow that I don't think the chip even required a heat sink. I used that very card back in my Unreal Tournament days - for a week or so anyway after my first 6000 card died. Back in those days, while testing for 3dfx, I never imagined that any of the cards would be worth what they are now. As long as none of the delicate rework parts have been broken off since I owned it, I'd bet that it's still a good card.

anyway if we are going to a meeting wgere would be the best place to do the meeting, I would like to see our 3dfx community once, just to speak everyone in RL:)

The only problem would be money for trasport and location.
If some else has any ideas, please ring a bell, any a dutch meeting is possible... I'll se what I can do for the dutch 3dfxérs
