I've heard of this way to increase capacity but didn't took it serious. Since i bought two pieces of Samsung 2048mb PC2100 ... my way of thinking changed. I didn't know that this is a retail-market-technique!


Pin25 and 57 of the upper ones are not connected to the lower ones and so they are not to the pcb!

Do anyone know how this is working? Is it possible to perform a mod in this way on voodoos?
The first negative aspect is, that the rams get very hot! But i think it don't have to be the same with the SDRams on Voodoos.

I think he bought them that way and if I remember correctly I saw RAM modules with 'double' chips as well.

I'm not sure if this will work with the Voodoo's ... no idea. I can imagine that the RAM modules (EDO, SDR, SG), the RAM controller and the PCB should be able to handle this kind of situation and I doubt that 3dfx cards are designed that way .

I know this tehnic from komponent.
In one of his first mod, he try to use this tehnic to double the memory capacity on a voodoo5.
Tehnic is not an easy one, and requires good soldering skills.
