I received today these two Voodoo 1 cards bought without pictures, and to my surprise, both came with radiators. I've already seen several V1 with radiators, and so my question is: are these radiators stock, or added manually by previous owner? The black card is ATC-2465 and the green one is VP-503. Here's the pic:

And a additional question: how can I easily distinguish 4mb version from 6mb version?

One more thing. I also have another V1 card, shown below. It is about 25 % faster than the two cards shown above (both in 3dmark99 and GLquake). They ale seem to be 4mb versions with 50 MHz clk. What is the reason for such a difference?

The text on the memory indicates what clock-frequency the memory is rated for. If you have 27NS memory on a normal Voodoo Graphics card (with the clock-frequency at 50MHz) then both the 3Dfx chips as the memory will work at 50MHz. In short words: it's not what the memory is rated for, but where it's clocked at :).

One notice: all 3Dfx cards, except for the Voodoo Banshee, have core and memory clock-frequencies locked. This means that you can not have 100MHz for the RAM chips and 50MHz for the graphics processors. They both have to run either at 100MHz or 50MHz (or any given clock-frequency of course) with the exception of the Voodoo Banshee.

I am aware, that the mems are running at 50 MHz and can run only sync'ed with gpu. But this doesn't answer my question: is this delay difference influencing overall performance that much?

Usually, low latency means also faster timings. I checked both the tipical datasheet of FPM DRAM 35ns and 25ns (I not found the DS of the same 27ns memory your card own, but it will be very similar to the original I guess...).

The card with the 27ns memory probably have faster timings than card with 35ns memory;)

Well, I checked again with this one. There are no substantial differences from what I said before; the memory with 27ns seems to have better timings than memory with 35ns.

Note there are many factors could affect performance results. The clock rate (but this is not the case), memory timings, hardware layout in general (all the cards looks to have standard reference design from 3Dfx, but some electronic componets can be lucky...)
