I got it (the latest V0.40 I think) and some Demos (Quake Model Animation Demo, Phong Demo, Car Shader Demo)
I'll temp. upload it later today, so you can grab it. (about 40MB in total I think) |

Yuppi! If you have the time, you can send me or upload just the dlls. They should be small and as far as I know that is all that concerns its functionality.
Thanks. Alpar |

Hm, I've checked the Archives and did not find any .dll's in them (?)
Could it be that I only got the Demos ? I rechecked : "swShader" contains the MD3/Quake Model Animation Demo Otherwise, I got the PhongCar Demo and StencilShadow Demo. Chances are I'm out of luck and actually didn't download the File you need :-/ |

Most probably. It used to be a free software from SourceForge but Transgaming has bought it, so I cannot find it anywhere. I checked your archive before posting. Nothing. Transgaming has a downloadable demo of now called Swiftshader, but that is incredibly slow, and ofcourse demo, so i thought I give the original swShader a try. But... It's gone...

Using the WayBack machine (www.archive.org), I was able to at least recover the Filenames you possibly need :
DirectX8-DLL.zip swShader-0.3.0.zip Archived Page that might help you : http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://sourceforge.net/projects/sw-shader Unfortunately SourceForge blocked the WayBackMachine to also Archive Files, so a direct Download is not possible. May take some time to search, but I'm sure you'll be able to find them. Hint : http://www.falconfly-central.de/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?action=mlletter;letter=c c0d1f1ed (Author) is registered in the Forum, haven't seen him in a long time, but he might be able to help if you contact him via EMail. |

I've got swShader DirectX 9 DLL Demo, which was distributed with unmodified ShadowVolume DirectX 9 SDK sample.
Upped it to my server: http://r21vo.id.lv/tmp/ShadowVolume.zip It contains swShader's d3d9.dll. |

Whats the difference? |
Title: Re: Looking for swShader Post by mikulaish on 10.03.06 at 13:50:10
Swiftshader is newer and can only be found as a demo version. swShader was its free predecessor. A concrete difference is that 3dmark 2001 runs with swiftshader(it is terribly slow but you can run dot3 bumpmapping, nature test, and pixel shader test) and does not run with swShader. If you want to know more, just download them yourself and play with them.

Title: Re: Looking for swShader Post by mikulaish on 15.03.06 at 10:20:26

Even in 640x480?
I tried only demos (Q4 model, Phong and DX9 API demo) on my laptop P4-M 1.4Ghz with and without "real" hw (Radeon mobility 9600) and... well... in 640x468 soft-hw is about 20fps, where real hw is about 300 :( Did someone try it in a "real" application? Mikulaish, what CPU do u use? |
