Title: (S) a few server parts
Post by ultima on 24.06.08 at 13:32:24
hey guys,

one of my DL360's has finally quit on me due to a failing scsi controller, so I'm selling a few parts of it.

I have for sale:

a matched pair 1.4Ghz tualatins (512KB cache)
4 sticks of 1GB ECC SDRAM 133Mhz

I'd like to sell it in 1 lot, but can understand if someone could use parts seperately.

Looking to get around 225 in total for these parts.

If wanted seperately, the sticks of ram can go for 150 in total, the cpu's for 75 for the pair.

Sorry but I can't buy those at this time....believe me I wish I had the $$$ cause they look like a good buy.  Oh well.....

I have some questions about the parts though.

I have a Intel i440 LX motherboard with a 66mhz fsb (I believe that's the right speed)....with a celeron 533mhz in a socket 370 PPGA setup.  If I decided to go looking for a processor and ram, would that type of thing you have for sale here work with my setup?  If so it gives me an idea of what to look for later on down the road when I actually have some cash.

Thanks.

well, if the cpu's would actually work on that board, which I'm sure they won't, they would run at 700Mhz max, due to that 66Mhz fsb.
But these are the fastest Pentium 3's there are, the motherboard needs to have an FCPGA2 socket370, because the pin-out on the cpu is slightly different from the FCPGA cpus.

The ram.....well, in the time of the chipset you have, 256MB of ram in total was considered standard or little high, so I don't think it would really work with these.
Besides, these are ECC stick which are also registered, so...they mostly only work on servers, or workstation boards.

Thank you kindly for the info.  I may just go ahead sometime and have my brother install a celeron 733 he gave me in the 533's place.  It is a decent chip actually, he used it for a long time and it didn't even have a single issue.  As for the ram, I have 320 megs now....so I guess I am gonna have to look out for a second 256 meg sdram somewhere....I got the one 256 I have at the friggen dump of all places....gee the stuff people actually want to throw away.  Thanks anyways, the info is appreciated.

the celeron is an ok cpu, altho it is a budget cpu.

If you were to go from a celeron 533Mhz to a Pentium 3 1.0Ghz with let's say 512MB ram, you'd notice quite the difference.

Yeah your probably right about that.  Though when by brother had the 733 celeron in his machine he was able to overclock it to 1050mhz so that is kinda cool....no tellin gif it'd work like that on mine though....time will tell I suppose.

Sorry for clogging you sale thread up and all.  Thanks for the help.  Hope the sale goes well.
