Title: [W] Canopus Pure 3D Loopcable Post by P200 on 20.12.11 at 17:34:13
Hi everybody,
Just a few days ago, I received a Canopus Pure 3D courtesy of Edmundoab. ;) BUT... It doesn't have the loopcable. I was looking through Google but no results at all. DIY cable, people selling cable, NOTHING :( So, anybody selling spare cable for a Canopus? Sorry my english, not my native lang. :-[ |

look through the forum I think I saw a thread somewhere how you can make the medusa cable yourself.

Really?!?! That would be fantastic news for me ! :) I'll look around the forum, one more time... haha BTW, if I couuld manage to make a "DIY Medusa", I'm still open to hear offers about a "real" Medusa cable :) Thanks for your fast reply ;) EDIT: I found the Medusa Pinout on the Archive, but the connector used in the Pure3D is about 7Pins, instead of the Quantum, with 26 Pins. :-[ |

He probably means the Quantum3D 100SB cable, which is not called the medusa cable I believe? That one does have the PS2 style connector. Not sure if it's pin compatible with the canopus though.
You can still use the card, just use either a second monitor, or plug the monitor cable in the canopus when you want to play a game. |

Or use a monitor with VGA and DVI, use DVI for the primary card, VGA for Canopus Voodoo. Most LCD monitors made today have both VGA and DVI. |

Yeah, I'll try using a monitor in my house with DVI/VGA inputs. Tried disconnecting the monitor from the primary card and then connecting to the Canopus when launched NFS3 but nothing happened. Surprisingly, made the same technique for Wizmark, and the Canopus worked OK. It does anything to do the fact about disconnecting the cable, and not having both card connected at the same moment? |

There shouldn't be any problems, but disconnecting and connecting stuff while they are powered is not a good thing. For VGA it's ok, but TV Out ports can very easily be burned this way. The same goes for HDMI connections. |

Hi P200, I also have a Canopus Pure 3D with its loop cable. I can't part with it, but I can make a continuity test and send you an schematic to build your own cable. Just let me know if you are interested.
PS: I'm spaniard by the way, so you can PM me in spanish. PS2: Oops, seems that Thema already posted a schematic on the other thread, so I guess you're all set now :) |

Yeah, the same thing I was thinking. So, it's better to have both card connected simultaneously, not disconnect and reconnect them. |

Yes, in the other thread the user Thema posted the schematic for the cable. Thanks anyway! On the other side, I don't know if I could find the proper connector in my local market. It's a regular connector or some propietary desing of Canopus? |
