I bought them because a few weeks ago PLX did officially stop to take orderings, so I thought it would be good to have a few for spare ;)
"Beginning with rev 2600" I meant from rev 2600 to 3900. |

@Loeschzwerg:
Can you repair the V5k6 rev.3700A of GrandAdmiralThrawn? |

If the bridge is the broken part, yes.

Some pictures of Chosen's Voodoo 5 6000 Rev 3700. The card was dead and is now running with a new PLX bridge :)
The number written on the power management chip U509 is 38. CR3 and 4 seem to have been replaced and the PCB was cut. This cut is fixed via a solder tin bridge. The card is also running flawlessly with AA, no PCI rework is needed, the card runs without it. |

Amazing work! I always love to see another goddess come back to life. 8-) Keep up the great work!

Thanks :)
Maybe other cards will follow soon 8-) |

Bad news, the card remains dead after all :(
The card works for a day and then stops working. Voltage supply is ok, memory of master VSA100 is also ok. I re-soldered the bridge several times but it always behaves the same way. At the moment I don't get a response anymore... so I think after all that reworks something else got damaged :( Sad for Chosen, sad for the card :-[ |

That's really make me sad, so clooose. But, let's make it more clear; reading better what you have written, I understand it worked for few hours, then it stopped to work, right? ...And at the time you was writing this post the card has actually stopped completely to work, right? :( |

Yes, I don't get any feedback from the card. "no VGA beep" and no bridge is shown with PCI view.
The problem is also that the solder pads have been though a lot now and two pads have started to lift. I have fear that, if I unsolder the bridge again, the card will get damaged even more :-/ So I can't do anything to bring the card back. |

3 solutions: First --> Hint chip is bad soldered: Do the work with a pro. company and make X-Ray after work to see if all traces on V5k6 card is very good soldered with all traces on rear hint chip. Second --> Traces on the card can be damaged (it's not possible to sold hint chip on the card): They need to check traces and know where each ball from chip Hint must be soldered. It's a chinese work! Third --> the PLX bridge is not good for the card: You need to have the exact model which is already present on the card. Regards, Trevor |

Nope.
He's saying the pads inside the bridge area are starting to lift. If they completely come off from the PCB, the death of the card is official. Actually it depends. If the pads which are lifting are on the edge, they are linked to visibile traces upon the PCB surface around the bridge, in this case you can do a rework, it's not easy, but you can try (but I think that Loeschzwerg have already done the math). Otherwise if we are speaking about one of those inside the area (beneath the bridge), those are linked somewhere throught all the card's layers; in this case, there is no chinese that can do something. EDIT: The compatibility of the PLX bridge is out of question IMHO. I read the datasheet too and the PCI6152-CC66BC fully complies to the original Hint bridge specs. These bridges were being used on late AAlchemy boards too. |
