Greetings!

I installed  FastVoodoo2 4.0 XP GE driver for my 2xVoodoo2 12Mb and I'm getting this famous "Mapmem driver initialization failure" when I try running NBA Live 99 or Unreal Tournament

Tried the 'fix' from 3dfx.it (new glide2, glide3 files) but it didn't help...

What now?

My system:
ABIT BX133-RAID motherboard
Pentium III 1Ghz CPU
512Mb SDRAM Kingston CAS 2-2-2 memory
ATI Radeon 8500 AGP 64Mb (also tried with a SIS 6324 8Mb AGP, no luck)
2 x Voodoo2 (Creative Labs) 12Mb SLI
SoundBlaster Live! 5.1
3Com 10/100 ethernet card
Windows XP SP2

try the radeon compatible glides.if that won't help,koolsmoky's driver should fix it for good.and you should make sure both your voodoo2s work as single cards before attempting to run SLI..

The compatible Radeon glide driver didn`t help, so I went to Koolsmoky and the mapmem error is gone, but now I got this one when trying to run NBA Live 99:

And Unreal Tournament runs only in windowed mode, I just can't set it to Full Screen!

Any other ideas?

Try the cards separately. See if both are working fine, just as ps47 suggested. Sometimes a V2 just dies... After all its out of warranty for about a decade now  :P

yes,something is definitely wrong,one of the cards may be damaged..try uninstalling the driver,pull one card out,reinstall the driver and see if everything works ok.if it does,swap the cards and test it again..

Ok, problem fixed.

In the end, I found out an IRQ conflict in PCI slots #5 and #1 in my mainboard that was hampering the 2nd voodoo to work properly.

I switched the slots of the boards and now everything is fine (using koolsmoky's driver). Now it's my NIC card that's not working (it's on PCI#5 :-) - I thing I'll plug in my good old ISA 3COM NIC card ;-))

There's just one thing missing: the Voodoo2 info tab is missing from the display properties - advanced options. Any ideas?

koolsmoky's driver does not contain any sort of control panel-use Voodoo2 Tweaker V1.1 from here: http://www.falconfly.de/tools.htm


btw,voodoo2s don't require irqs-that one strange problem you are having..well,as long as its working,all is good.

Hmmmmmmm...... that explains why they were able to initialize w/o problems whereas my NIC and/or Video Card are no longer able to find free resources...

hmmm.... very intersting, so the problem may NOT be the resources conflict. If this is the case, I'll be able to put the NIC back to its original slot - as long as the V2s work.

I'll test this and update this thread tomorrow.
