Title: Velocity 100/200 & Voodoo3 1000. . . Post by goriath on 29.01.05 at 01:21:59
Hi guys!
What are differences between this 3 cards??? Their hardware features are apparently the same (in some case clock-core, qty of ram, ram's latency and so on....).... They are OEM product, is it right? But, why velocity 100 card is boxed, while others not? Am i wrong? Also velocity 200 is boxed? clear my ideas, please ??? Sorry for my stupid question, but just now i realized that i am a bit confused about this.... :( |

Voodoo 3 1000 has only 125 MHz Clockspeed and 16 MB RAM (GPU has NO heatsink !) the only one model i knew is the compaq OEM card, there's also a crad called bonesteel but imho it's near like the Velocity 100
Velocity 100 has only 8 MBs and one of the Texelpipelines is deactivated by driver (can be reactivated) i don't have any informations about the Velocity 2000 :( |

The Velocity 100 has 8MB SGRAM, runs at 143MHz and uses one TMU.
The Velocity 200 has 16MB SGRAM, runs at 143MHz and uses one TMU There are different versions of the Voodoo 3 1000 but all use both TMU's and run at 125MHz. The only difference between these V3 1000 cards is the amount of RAM; 8MB or 16MB. Also, the Velocity cards were sold by 3dfx/STB while the V3 1000 cards were strictly third-party cards (Compaq, Gateway, NIX) |

"has one TMU"is not really correct because you can reactivate the second TMU by cracking the driver.

Sorry guys, but now i am more confused :P
Look at : http://www.3dfx.cz/voodoo3.htm This is page dedicated to Voodoo3 cards, at 3dfx.cz (not .ch ;))..... In the middle are tables about Velocity100/200, Voodoo3 1000 from Gateway & Compaq.... |

This is an assumption- Since no one seems to have a Velocity 200 we can only guess at it's clock speed, ram and TMU's. For all we know a Velocity 200 is a V3-2000 with a different bios and decal. Quote:
Not true- The Gateway V3-1000 runs at 143 mhz and has one TMU. |

Okay, my mistake, I'm not perfect :)
But what's the deal with all the scepticism towards the Velocity 200 lately? |

In what respect? It is a subject that has been pretty much beat to death on the board and seems to resurface every few months. If you do a search you will see I did a series of benchmarks comparing the Velocity 100, Compaq V3-1000 and V3-2000 a few months ago. |
