Title: Removing TDHQ drivers
Post by The Khan Artist on 25.05.03 at 11:56:46
Well, I had a huge driver mess up last week, and when I was reinstalling my video drivers, I decided to try out the TDHQ drivers, instead of AmigaMerlin. Now I'm regretting it, because Direct3D seems to have completely stopped working. Is there any way to completely and totally blow away the TDHQ drivers, delete files, remove registry keys, everything, so I can do a clean re-install of AmigaMerlin?

Sure...

I think that the bundeled VoodooControl Applet needs to be uninstalled separately, just check the Software Panel, and after uninstalling the Registry as well (search for "Voodoo" should do it)

To get rid of the Driver 100% :

- Uninstall via Software Panel
- Restart and Boot into safe Mode
--> Delete Video Card from Device Manager
--> Open Regedit, search for "3dfx" and delete entries
--> In Windows' System Dir, delete 3dfx* Driver Files
--> In Windows' Inf Dir, delete 3dfx* .INF Files

After the next Restart, Windows shouldn't even know what type of Card a Voodoo is, and will ask for a Driver ;)

Initially install "Standard VGA", and from there on, install any Driver you like...

Thanks FalconFly, I'll try that.

And, yes, I was using B10. D3D games either just plain won't run, or looked weird.
